Maximum negative camber without a camber kit

On a C5Z how far can you push the negative camber for autocross without a camber kit? In what circumstances is a camber kit essential?
Thanks for input.

In most stock C5s you can get between -1.9 and -2.2 on the fronts depending on the car. FWIW.

On the front I can get -3. It depends on how low your car is. The back you can get at least -1. You really don't need a camber kit. It won't give you anymore camber. The camber kit locks in your alignment. It can't change by hitting a curb or anything. Now if the person doing your alignment torques the concentric bolts to #125 it won't move either. I just max out the adjusters and use washers on the upper control arm to adjust camber and castor on the front. The rear you have to adjust the concentric bolt to get the right camber.

I agree that you can usually get enough without them, BUT some cars do need more. Also, the added benefit of locking the camber into position makes the Hardbar/Pfadt setups really nice.

The GM camber plates do give you an addition 0.2deg or so if you need it, but most cars don't.

As noted, most cars also have washers behind the upper control arms. If you can't get enough camber with the concentric alone, make sure those washers have been removed.
