BAd news, bro. The speedo drive gear is on the output shaft and that's the first part that goes in when you rebuild a 200-4R. And that trans does not have a removeable tailhousing.

Bottom line is you have to tear the tranny down completely to replace the drive gear.
An option is getting a ratio adapter from some vendor.

Thanks Tim
I will put ratio adapter on the speedo cable.

I'm running a 200-4R and my understanding is that the drive gear is on the governor and can be changed by just removing the governor.

This is not true at all. The 2004r trans speedo drive gear is on the end of the governor. There are 4 diffrent drive gears and 6 diffrent driven gears. The pan needs to be dropped and remove the governor cover to change the drive gear

Wouldn't it be easier to change the rear end gears?

So what to do?
There is anyone here that changed the drive gear inside the 200R4?
I have in my hand the correct drive gear & driven gear for the new rear end ratio.
Thanks
Avner

1 Remove the speedo cable and driven gear from the housing
2 drain fluid and remove the pan
3 the governor cover has 4-13 mm bolts remove them and the cover
4 remove the snap ring on the governor shaft and remove the gear
Reverse order to instal.
Note: You should replace the governor cover gasket if it is cracked or brokenl

Below is a pic of the governor. The thin gear drives off the out put shaft. The larger gear is the drive gear for the speedo driven gear

You don't have to go as deep as my pic shows just the cover that you see in the back ground above the green gear.
