1969 Chevrolet Corvette 427 / L89 on Ebay

Has anyone had a chance to look at the blue 1969 Vette L89 on Ebay? Item number is: 120386574669. This car is in the St. Louis area and appears to have been for sale for quite awhile and has been listed several times. The dealership claims to have the tank sticker but I can't get anyone there to cooperate with me in sending photos of the engine VIN or the supposed tank sticker. This is a red flag to me. I love the color and if this is a true L89, it would be a great find though from the photos it is missing some items that could get expensive to replace.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thank you :)

My 'gut' reaction.... if the dealer won't go to the trouble [should be no trouble at all] to provide info on items mentioned in his sales 'pitch', those items are bogus.

Wrong spark plug wires, trim tag shows a lot of corrosion, the emissions/tuneup label is apparent but can't be read (provides a code to determine engine), no photo of VIN plate or pillar (common rust area), no photo or description of engine stamp pad, no underside photos, surprising amount of oversparay on trim tag, door latch cathes, elsewhere, wrong hose clamps, no information on transmission or rear end stampings.

Perhaps it was a basket case NOM L89 with just enough restoration to look as good as it does. The tank sticker (if legit) and appearance justify pricing in that range, as it could be brought higher with a correct motor and more detail work.

Otherwise, it is maybe a $40k car?

Steve

I just knew there had to be a reason the dealership didn't get back to me with my requests. This car has been relisted many times with 0 bids each time. I spoke with a Corvette person who is a member of this site and lives in St. Louis. He claims to know this dealer. He said in his opinon, the cars were ok but rough at times. It is so sad because I love the color and of course the L89, if that is what it is. I do agree with Steve that this car could have been a basket case, cobbled together quickly to sell. Well it hasn't and I am not surprised.
