Your transmission-controlled spark (TCS) system has been bypassed/disabled. Note that the vacuum hose from the distributor diaphragm goes directly to the port on the carb. It should go to the small cylinder (TCS solenoid) just above your thumb and then on to the carb port. So essentially that solenoid with associated hoses is non-functional.

I removed the whole setup on mine. But you can put yours back to stock very easily if you can find a TCS diagram. In other words what hoses go where. My literature does not contain one unfortunately.

The TCS controls your trans kickdown, vacuum advance, and the cowel induction solenoid. I just went through this myself on my 74 L-48. I ordered a (REAL) GM tcs off of ebay. some guy in Florida had 96 of them ( why I don't know) for $59.95 + 8 bucks shipping. You can also get them through corvette central. I looked on wilcox but didn't see them. Mine ran alot better when I installed mine! Good luck!

My AIM had a diagram of the hose routing ( not great but it will get you there ).
