Removing light "hazing " scratches
 

Found some type of "rub" mark on the hood of my 09 and used a polishing compound by hand and lightly tried to polish it out. I was able to get most of the mark out but then when I stepped to the side I could see the fine scratches caused by the polishing compound.
Is there any product I can apply by hand to remove these scratches and hopefully the remainder of the smudge mark?
I do not yet own a buffer.
You can not feel any of the scratches or the smudge mark.

Look into either a PC7424 or the flex. :thumbs:

I know I will be buying a buffer eventually. Am waiting right now to see the price on the new PC.

But in the mean time, how about using Meguiar's Swirl-X by hand?

If you are going to do it by hand I would use in this order:

1. Zaino ZPC Fusion (works better by machine but could help)
2. Zaino All in One (bonds with the paint surface and has some cleaning properties)
3. Zaino Z5 (has some hiding/filling capabilities)

The Meguiar's Scratch X could be used. I just never had much luck with it. Won't hurt. Just follow up with progressively finer polishes and then protect it.

The Vettes harder clearcoat is not receptive to hand polishing, it seems to offer very little reward. Funny as it will scratch if you look at it wrong. You truly need the correct polishes and machine to do any real repair/corrections. A light finishing polish and light pad might do the trick but a buffer is needed.
