trailing arm bushings

I just finished pulling out my trialing arms--what a crappy job. I had to sawsall them out and all the time I was wondering what they were thinking when they engineered that. Any how, one tip I may have for others is buy as long sawsall blades as you can and after you dull the tip, cut off about 2" from the end ( I used a die grinder with a small cut off wheel ) and you then have a fresh set of teeth. I was able to get three cuts off each blade. I suppose it has been asked but I haven't seen it, has anyone re-welded the trailing arms? They seem only to have about 1-2" welds on mine with a big space between.

The short welds are the way they are supposed to be, the rest of the seams were just sort of overlapped. Rust usually gets in those seams and starts to spread them out. As long as they aren't too bad they can probably be saved. If you have doubts about how good they are and if they can be saved, send them to a specialist for a check and rebuild.

When you reassemble use stainless shims and a stainless through bolt. Also use lots of anti seize. It will make future removal and alignments alot easier.
