no low speeds on AC fan

I only have high and off on my AC/Heat fan. Did i park in a wrong neighborhood and someone steal them?

Check fuse- probably marked heater. If ya parked in the wrong area ya wouldn't have to ask!

Check the blower motor resistor located on the passenger firewall near the blower motor mounted horizontally on the plastic case. It helps to post the model year when asking questions. It shouldn't be too hard to fix.

Sorry, year is 1981. Don't think fuse because high works, just the lower settings between off and high missing.

The fuse box supplys power for the lower speeds. High is separate.

Not fuse, resistor. Maybe the '81 doesn't have a blower motor resistor but I would be surprised if it didn't. Even my newer cars have one for the blower. It's the different resistance levels as you switch speeds that turns the motor at different speeds. If the blower motor resistor goes bad you will have off and high only.

resistor

I found resistor under hood and removed it. The connector pins are crudy but I got a reading through them and the wires on the bottom look good. Could the switch contacts go bad on low speeds and maintain high?

terminals

I noticed the terminals were really crudy. Took a little sandpaper to them, pluged it up and it works. Some times you get lucky.

That wasn't luck, it was good troubleshooting
