Training Video on EBay: Good or Bad?

There is set of LT5 training videos on EBay, there currently at $81.00 and I have seen them go for over a hundred in other auctions.

Are they worth it? If so is there any place that sells them out right?

I think it is a good tool, I liked it, tells you what needs to be done it is a general introduction to the car, and a tear down of the engine and it talks about cam timing......if you ever think youll work on the engine I recomend getting them why not cant hurt :D

Re: Training Video on EBay: Good or Bad? (92KNGOHIL)

They are interesting videos, but not worth that much when there are copies available for a lot less. I think the trick is to get the manuals that go with the videos. There was a post on the net about that a few weeks ago, but the place was sold out.

Re: Training Video on EBay: Good or Bad? (VetBoyZR1)

Sometime ago, a member got the video, and I copied it for all that wanted one, for about $5 or so (maybe $6), which was for blank tape and shipping. Can do again if anyone wants to do it.

The tape is really neat, and explains quite a bit about why the engine is done like it is, even if you do not ever work on one.

If we do it, the procedure is to send your check for $6(?) and your return address to me. The tapes go out in a day or so. They are not as good as the original set, obviously, but are well worth the effort. Adds to your ZR1 "portfolio".

I got my copy from Art, just like he said above. I didn't want to say where the videos were available in my previous post, just that the e-bay price was way high. Glad you mentioned it Art. My copy is very cool to watch! Thanks again.

Hi Art, Thanks for the offer. I'll get my check in the mail tomorrow.

Usa1-Zr1, I can understand why you want a ZR1!! I understand there are quite a few ZR1 terrorizing the Greenville area. :))
I can think of a Bright Red one that runs pretty darn good, & a Black that also runs good (you'll hear this one before you see it!) & a white one also comes to mind. There was a Comp Yellow one ( 1 of 11 ) running around the neighborhood last summer also. I'm sure you can't wait to get one!!
Good luck, George

Re: Training Video on EBay: Good or Bad? (BlackWidow#2)

There have been too many responses (a good thing). I'll start a new batch, and they should all be on the way Tuesday, in time to arrive before the weekend.

Anyone else want on, just let me know.

BTW, I am considering trading my ZR1 for a C5 convert. see
http://www.greatvettes.org/ZR1Trade.htm

Love the car. The issue deals more with lifestyle changes, and a desire to resist the urge to modify the car, which is pristine.

Anyone know of any interest, just we mail me.

Thanks,

Re: Training Video on EBay: Good or Bad? (Usa1-Zr1)

I'll return the check, as the tapes haven't left yet. Be aware however, that a consumer training tape comes in the owner's portifolio, and the one we have is the machanic's schooling tape.

Let me know which you have... No problem... If you have the machanic's tape, you may want a copy of the owner's tape.

Regards,

Update...

Got tied up this week. All checks still in envelopes.... Will do the tapes asap... many more than expected.. great!

I will try to include the owner's tape also for those that don't have theirs. I'll make them all the same way irregardless.

USA1... Do you want the check back or have you determined which tape you have? Unless you tell me I will return check.

Regards.

Re: Training Video on EBay: Good or Bad? (ZR1991)

Another update guys, per Art's request.

Here is an e mail from Art, to me about the situation:

Glad you wrote.

Have been delayed for two reasons

1) I have been in big suit with a bank over the theft of my ID in '97. The
case is in Federal Court, and I have been waiting patiently for all this
time to take some skin (likely several hundred thousand $ worth) off the
bank. As luck would have the Judge has held several conferences in the last
couple weeks, and obviously I was pre-occupied.
2. Lots of people want the owner's tape too, so I am adding it to all of
them. No extra $, just a bit of patience.

Thanks, and if you would post this I would appreciate it so nobody is
worried.

Kindest Regards, Art in Baton Rouge.

Re: Training Video on EBay: Good or Bad? (Usa1-Zr1)

Great, USA.

Here's an update. We are reaching a "pause period" in court this Friday, and I will start on the tapes, and they should all be in the hands of those that sent their info.

With the addition of the "Owner's Tape".

And by the way (those of you who have dealt with me before know this), all of your envelopes are still sealed and your checks safe. I will open them as I am ready to address you tape to you.

Thanks for your patience. I am assuming everyone understands.

Any one else wanting the tapes, it is not too late. But this will be the last batch I make for a year or so.

Thanks to everybody.

Re: Training Video on EBay: Good or Bad? (Usa1-Zr1)

Wow! It was a good week... Not the end, but as Winston said, the end of the beginning. Legal issues should be finished by year's end.

I'll start sending out tapes and post the names and hometowns as I do so.

If there is ANY problem, let me know. I QC each tape, but only ar random, as they will be nearly three hours long!

ZR1991 03-29-2002 01:10 AM

Re: Training Video on EBay: Good or Bad? (ZR1991)

Wow!

This has turned into an interesting project. The combination of tapes is over 3 hours, and my training tape is two generations from the master.

So I obviously can't afford the time to edit each tape to shorten it (take out some of the "testing" on the training tape... believe me, you won't miss it after you see the sample I left in). So I am making a new master using some digital processing to clean up the color in these very old tapes. The master is about done, then I can make the tapes 6-8 at a time without tending to them.

I can then do as many as are wanted, after getting the tapes to those who wanted them first. You'll like them. The owner's tape has a lot of interesting info I had forgotten was there, and of gourse the LT5 training tape is fantastic. The tape makes it immediatly apparent what an engineering marvel the engine was.

Ne patient, I am making good progress, and still holding all checks. Tapes to go out roughly as the postmarks order. All tapes in one week from first tape.

Anyone else just hearing this can join in, once done, the master can be used indefinately, but I need to get the ones out to the people who are waiting first. But after that, we can have what we want.

Regards, and hopefully no one is mad at me,

Art in Baton Rouge.
