MY FOB started another Corvette

Went to the Doctor's today and drove my clunker cause I didn't want the parking garage jockies dinging my baby. My key ring has my red C6 Vert's FOB along with my clunker keys. When I went to pick up my car the jocky brought up a blue C6 Vert! I never even thought about my vette FOB being on the key ring, but the parking jocky obviously just engaged the FOB and didn't bother looking at the ticket number.

What's the odds of this happening? Has anybody else ever found an FOB match? I have to admitt I'm feeling a bit funny about it.

:willy:

That is a first. Maybe the fob of the blue C6 was in the car and that is why it started.

Rocketmanwpb 06-09-2009 11:12 PM

Never heard of that happening before.

gweissgerber 06-09-2009 11:12 PM

NO it wasn't in the car. The guy said he hit the alarm button and went to the car that went off. He says he always does that with fobs to save time looking for cars.

Wow, this is interesting. Talon?

What are the odds? So how did the blue vert drive? ;)

I'm impressed...your doctor has valet parking. I thought only dentists could afford that kind of stuff.

I think the "garage jockey" was playing a little trick on you.

RadarP3C 06-09-2009 11:24 PM

Well,.....did you keep the vert and leave your clunker?

gweissgerber 06-09-2009 11:24 PM

In DC, you have to park in garages that have "valet" parking jockies. My doc would love to charge me for valet parking. As a Vette owner, I'd never get into anothe without the permission of the owner. Now if it was a Porsche or Beamer, I'd a run it arounf the block one or twice................

gweissgerber 06-09-2009 11:26 PM

No tricks, this guy didn't have a clue, he was pissed that he had to go back down in the hole to find my Honda

Vette_DD 06-09-2009 11:34 PM

Possible, but not likely.

Hmmm... a few years ago there were rumors that Saturns only had something like 15 different keys. The news story found about 3 Saturns in the same parking lot that used the same key. :willy:

Its pretty much impossible to start a C6 with a FOB thats programmed to another car. The proper FOB had to be in the car already.

It would be interesting to know what the odds really are...how many Vettes have the same FOB code. Does it change by model year, or is there a random component to the code. Hmmm... the buffer is full.

FIREMANMIKE 06-10-2009 12:52 AM

I don't think this is possible.

Yes...you could have had a free vert.

Although it doesn't happen very frequently....it does happen.

With a GM FOB from my other car, I unlocked a BMW 328I that was parked next to me. Tried it several times. Locked and unlocked the BMW.:yesnod:

Left the owner a note on the windshield. He never called though.

sounds like a good trade to me:cheers:
