wheel and tire size quest.

Hey guys newbie here am going to look at a 95 tomorrow w/ 50,000 miles on it, completly stock but it has after market zr1 wheels and i beleive they are 17'' x 8.5'' all the way around and dont like the way it looks at all. it comes with the original saw blades but will need tires on them my quest. is what size are the stock rims are they 17'' x 8.5 fronts and 17'' x 9.5 rears? how wide of a tire can i get on the stock rears?? also i am looking to find some zr 1 saw blades for the rear are they 11'' wide? and does any one here have them for sale or a set of 4 gs wheels they can be after markets aslso what are the stock tire sizes for the saw blade wheels

Thanks
Steve

Stock rear size is 285/40 on 9.5 rims. I doubt you will find any 11" sawblades, but 11" replica ZR1 5 spokes can be found fairly reasonably. Hope the car checks out good for you.

There were two different wheel/tire configurations based on the suspension package. Base suspension cars got 8.5x17 wheels up front with 255/45-17 tires. The rear wheels were 9.5x17 and the tires were 285/40-17. If the car came with the Z07 sport suspension package, all wheels were 9.5x17 with 275/40-17 tires. All wheels were the sawblade design.

You could use a 275/40 tire on the narrower wheel, but it would be better to find another pair of 9.5x17 wheels for up front and then run a 275/40 tire. That way you can rotate tires for longer tread life. The 11x17 wheel got a 315/35-17 tire.

The ZR-1 style wheels (at least those for Corvette use) would be 9.5x17 or 11x17. The offset measurement is critical for using 11x17 wheels out back. OEM ZR-1 rear wheels had a 38mm offset. Because the rear of the ZR-1 body was 3" wider than a standard C4, the added body width and offset kept the wheel/tire combo inside the wheelwell. Using the OEM ZR-1 wheel on standard cars will cause the tire to stick out past the wheelwell opening about 1.5 inches.

The 1996 Grand Sport used a 11x17 rear wheel with a 50mm offset. That difference in offset was enough to keep the tire from sticking out. Only the GS coupe got 11x17 wheels in the rear, the 'verts got a 9.5x17 wheel. These wheels are the ZR-1 5-spoke style. There was no factory sawblade wheel for the Grand Sport. The ZR-1 got the 5-spoke wheel in '94.

If you have any questions on the 95 send me a PM. I have over 200K miles on my 95 and think it is just great.
