Neoprene Seat Cover ??? Hotter or Cooler

I saw Neoprene Seat Covers by Cover King at Costco on sale for $139.99 (til 7/24/09) but without the logo. That is the best price I've seen so far on Neoprene Covers. Others have them for twice the cost or more (with logos).

My question is do these neoprene covers keep cooler than the leather in the summer as they claim to be. I've seen both in the threads (some claim that they are cooler and others have said that they are actually hotter than the leather). Some also love these covers and other hate them.

I don't have a problem with the leather, but since I have a Black Z06 with black interior, it gets very hot to sit in when the car's been sitting out in the sun (otherwise, it's in the garage at home). I do have the window valet installed so I roll down the windows before entering the car. Temperature is not the only issue, but the leather also makes you sweat like crazy. I've used a towel-like seat cover made by another vendor and it keeps me from getting scorched and also helps with the sweating, though it doesn't stay put too well. I was planning to put this back in my other car (which also has leather) and buy a set of the Seat Armour Towel covers ($50/pr) since they can be easily taken off.

Then I saw several threads about Neoprene Seat Covers and Costco. So I checked out Costco, and they have the Cover King Neoprene covers on sale right now for $139.99. Not a bad price.

Any recommendations, inputs? The neoprene covers seem to fit better than the fabrics, but I'm more concerned with the heat and sweating.

They are GREAT-have them in my vert-never hot or cold.

I liked sitting on mine but I took them off because I like the looks of the interior better without them. They were cooler than the leather. If they were not such a PITA to put on and take off I would put them on excpet ofr shows and different things, but you have to take the seats out of the car to put them on or take them off. So I leave em off and they now reside in the garage NEXT to the car.

They save the cheap leather and feel better, what's not to like?

I like them. I bought a set for my Z off of this forum about a year ago. I put them on the first time and they have not been off yet. I drive my car every day so I thought the covers would save my seats a lot of wear and tear. I am sure they have at this point but have not seen the leather in a while now.

Do they fit as well as they look in the pic? I really miss my cloth C4 seats and this might be a cheap solution, but I typically hate the look of seatcovers....

I dont notice a huge difference in mine, but the Red/black combo looks good in my torch red coupe!

The Coverking and Wet Okoles both fit great (I've had both).

:skep: I've put mine (cover kings) on and taken out several times, and I've never removed the seats! Now, I do have to move the seat around a couple of times to get to everything. And it helps to use a long, thin, flexible wire to guide the straps under the seat. It's not that hard once you've done it a couple times.

I will agree that the interior looks better without them, but it helps with the wear. I have a light gray interior, and when I put my all black (except for the logo) covers on, it changes the look a bit.

I usually use them in the winter, since I haven't added seat heaters yet, but I think they're too hot for summer. It also helps the leather to take them off and clean and treat the seats.

Good info guys,I have been wanting the Okole seat covers but don't feel they are worth $250 = shipping. Now I have an alternative.

This is kind of a secondary question, but do you have your windows tinted? I have my rear glass at 15% and I believe 30% for the sides and it made a HUGE difference. If I use a sunshade on the front, my black/black coupe never gets very hot inside.

taegee2 07-15-2009 01:17 PM

No...don't have window tints...but was considering. Live in VA so the limit is 50% on the front sides and 35% on the rear sides and rear plus a 7% leeway (not very dark). Not a real big fan of window tints though I have tinted windows on my GOV (Govt. Owned Vehicle)...Have to roll down the windows when I back up into my driveway at nights 'cause I can't see jack Sh!$ through the windows.

The neoprene covers are cooler than the stock leather covers. :yesnod:

Since this is a neoprene seat cover thread, has anyone ever washed a set of these covers? Is is possible to wash them and expect them to come out of the washer without damage? I was thinking of taking the drivers side down to the laundry mat and running it through the gentle cycle in one of those big machines. My drivers side is showing some dirt after 1 1/2 years.

Looks nice...and...clean !

Bought the Coverking Neoprene seat covers (all Black with red Z06 logo embroidered, not heat transfer) on ebay for $150 (New).

Received it today and installed it in about an hour (took the seats out for the install).

I actually like it...now to test it in the hot sun.

taegee2 07-28-2009 08:15 PM

So far, the covers are working good...more bearable than the leather in the heat (does warm up but still cooler than the leather). Even my daughter likes the neoprene covers better than the leather.
