And they say that this sport is supposed to be non contact ??? The one where the car came barrel rolling across the track was really scary !

DarkMastyr 08-27-2009 01:17 PM

LOL @ the steering wheel!

remind me again why I want a miata as a race car?

fej 08-27-2009 08:25 PM

Seems like bumper cars out there, I mean I get the whole "rubbin in racing" thing, but a few of those crashes it is like the drivers have no idea where any of the other cars are at on the track. And being spec you would think that you ALWAYS have cars around you /shrug

Hope no one was hurt in all of that mess, I can't afford to play in the w2w arena so maybe my take on the video is skewed ...

Some scary hits in that short video. Hope they all walked away.

Maybe because you like the idea of racing against lots of other drivers with varying degrees of ability (some of them maybe you are actually better then) vs. racing against the only 3 cars in your class that showed up. 2 of which you have no chance to be competitive against and 1 that doesn't stand a chance against anybody.

Get out there and race in a spec class like SRF or SM and you will soon find out that the guys in the front, are really really good. Of course, we didn't see the guys in the front wreck, did we?;)

5ft above the wall!

OMG!

After the tire wall, he does more than 360 deg in mid air before settling down.

I take it in this series you want to qualify up front? I've always thought this would be a good affordable series to get in.

the steering wheel - i am guessing this is not the first time that happened...

worldsaway 08-28-2009 05:08 AM

They don't call it spec pinata for nothing. Hit it till candy fall out.

I think people that say this have never raced Spec Miata (or anything else).

Yes, the crashes are quite spectacular. However, there is much more close racing going on throughout the entire field that far outweights the number of crashes, and that makes this class a whole lot of fun.

Think someone grips that steering wheel a little too tight?

and why it is so popular.

drivinhard 08-28-2009 07:59 AM

the last SM race i watched at RA looked like NASCAR at a plate track. they were all still nose to tail on the last lap. good racing

AU N EGL 08-28-2009 08:41 AM

Those little SM do bump hard with they do hit.

but definitely good hard racing.

 to those SM guys

John Shiels 08-29-2009 06:43 PM

I am sure I enjoyed this much more than the people in the tapes  Again it makes me not want to go back to the track with no cage next year when I get it back together.

If I were to get in to W2W I think that's where I'd want to start. Lots of bang for the buck, not enough power to get in too much trouble. But it does seem like they trade paint more than the nascar guys. If that's the case, why?
