Oil drip

Hello everyone,
My 1995 has a tiny oil drip, so far it does not seem to be the drain plug or the oil filter, but that is exactly where the drip is coming from.
What is just above this area that may be driping?
Main seal?
But, when i check the oil it never appears to be low.
Any ideas?
Mike

Its a tough search....clean the "entire" area, under the oil pan, around the filter and under the hood, especially around the valve covers and the front of the engine(timing chain cover). Use a dye and black light leak kit sold in most auto parts stores....and take a look. Could be simple as loose bolts in a specific area. My oil pan bolts were loose and caused a bad leak....tightened them up and no more leak.

When the engine is cool feel behind the intake by the cowl. Their are oil pressure sensors there and mine did leak.

If I tell you for the last 10 years I have little drip that don't amount to anything cause sometimes it's on the floor, and other times it never drips. I not worried till it's good drip someone can find. I never loose oil.

The LT engines have been known to leak at the rear of the intake manifold.

My L98 has the same leak. Sometimes it does and spmetimes it doesn't. and it never seems to be low on oil.

My guess is it's the intake.

:iagree::iagree: Thats what mine was doing.Get a flashlight and look under the EGR for oil on the back of the motor.Intake manifolds like to weep oil a little in these cars as well.:thumbs:

I don't think it's possible to have a LTx without an oil leak somewhere...

You should replace them its not very costly for parts.EGR is a bit of a pain to remove to get to them.A mechanic will charge around 250 bucks to do it with parts cost included. If let go the pressure sensor could give false readings and may become an issue.:banghead: always something I know.If you can remove the EGR its a snap.

The EGR looks pretty easy to get to to me

My guess is it's the intake.

I think it's from the timing chain cover, cause front of the oil pan is wet. Doesn't bother me after all these years. One it get to really leak, I'll have it fixed.
Looked at your profile, and thank you for serving and keep our freedom strong.:flag:
