Pyramid Powdercoating in Sun Valley, 20 minutes from where you live.

Hey it's the paint man.

Try Andrews in Chatsworth (http://www.powdercoater.com/). My Harley wheels were done there. Good quality.

Do these powder coaters know about Corvette colors . Will they know what I mean when I ask them to powder coat a wheel Cometition grey ? Sometimes they say "oh yeah I know exactly what you mean " and its totally wrong .

As you know with paint, it's always good to have a visual sample.

How do I give them that ? I may be able to take some pics of the C G wheels , but a pic is different from reality . Is there a paint code # for the C G color ?

Did you go to the link I gave? There are color samples online and for custom mixes, they ask for a sample. How you get that to them, that's up to you. Maybe call up a friend with Comp Grey wheels and go down there. I don't think paint color codes are the same as PC colors. Good luck.

please post back if you get this done, who, the powder color they used, and how happy you are with the results, also the price.

Are you also going to do this ?
Powder coating should be much more durable than GM painting process.

I do like the comp gray, I think it would look good on my white. I have used a coater in san bernardino, precision powder coating, to do a street rod chassis in the past. Powders some in a rather limited color selection. If I decide to do it I would like the color to be pretty close to comp gray.

The quote I have is $50 a wheel for in-stock colors, extra if they order the color. They use cardinal powder here is a link to their colors Cardinal powder pdf

50 a wheel isn't bad at all. Do you then want a clear coating over that ?

arkus 09-17-2009 03:36 PM

I'm going to get the color as close to CG as possible

Andrews did my Ronal centers (and other jobs over the years), absolutely beautiful work. They have more colors in powder than you can imagine. They are very good, but you should take them a color sample.

Could I take them some pictures for a color sample?

Only as close as the picture color is printed, a real wheel would be best. They have at least two large boxes of available colors that you can match. If you go to Andrews I might be able to provide a comp gray wheel to match. PM if that will help.

I was thinking about that . I would like colored cross flags .I will have to look further into that . Any ideas ?
I'm also going with Michelin rubber .

Jedsvet 09-18-2009 11:56 PM

It might be a good idea to get Comp Gray caps first and have them come close with the powder. Powder has less choices, not mixed to order.
