Flared fenders on a C2?
Hello,
I am new to this forum, and don't know much about Corvettes, other than how much I've always liked them. Recently, I found a photo of the 'one that got away.' A C2 convertible with an aftermarket body kit, and if I remember right, a small block 400 under the hood. This was in Santa Barbara in 1984, and it was 12 grand. It was gone before I could pull together the money. It was a great test ride, burned rubber in all four gears, and one of the best looking cars I've ever seen. I don't want to cause any offense to the purists, but I'm very curious about the bodywork which I really love, and would love to hear from anyone familiar with it. Could you still find it today? What would it cost? Also, I love those rims, but they'd probably be hard to find these days. I don't think there's any way to tell from the photo what year the vette was, and I don't remember. Too bad. Any help most appreciated, and I hope loving a modded vette isn't too big an infraction on this board. http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/1728085/C...tga%20copy.png |

Loving a modded Vette puts you into a different sub-section of midyear owners and those guys are usually pretty funny ! Welcome and put on your seatbelt, it's gonna be a bumpy ride.

That style bodywork was pretty common in the 60s/70s. They are still around and usually bring significantly less money than a stocker. There are plenty of us that still like the modifies.

I'm doing one now. Don't care what the purists say or think. It's still a Vette and it's mine to do with what I wish.
They have their deal, and I have mine. I don't belittle them for liking the factory originals. Dave http://bshadel.googlepages.com It's on it's way to the paint shop next week. HOORAY!!!! |

Here is a picture of mine, love the flares. If I had to change anything I would change the front flares so they will continue the body line, in other words square on top

Yeah, at least with fender flares you guys can put some decent size rubber on the back. Not much point in putting a 600 HP Merlin 540 in the car if you're stuck with 215/70R/15s.
Now just how much torque will one of those antique IRS units hold before you snap somethhing in half?? |

Lots of 60z & 70z mods here on this old thread..................
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c1-a...ol-vettes.html There used to be a nicely done (if that's possible) white fast back Vette there but looks like the pic has been deleted. Wish I had saved it as it was done rite.......... very subtle |
Nothing wrong to adding a little flare to your corvette!

What size tires are you running with the flares?

Now that's pretty cool looking! Flairs are just fine. Sometimes there are just too many "correct" cars out there that it's a pleasure to see a custom now and then. Having lived through the 70's the customs were the hot ticket! |
