GM accessory pack W/ serpentine belt system :flag: Hi John, There are many Threads about this in the archives, from drop it in as-is, to customizing with various options/upgrades, to making it appear as close to a stock 327 as possible with stock-appearing intake, ram horn exhaust manifolds, etc., so you have plenty of options. One thing to consider is that if you have a small block hood, you may need to use a low-rise intake manifold and/or air-cleaner, if you get a GM 383 crate engine with the Vortec heads. If the car is originally a small-block, you may also want to consider upgrading the rear end with big-block parts, or check Tom's Differentials website. |
I have one in my 66 roadster... Basically a drop in, gives a great sound with side pipes, pulls like a mule and then more.. I have never regretted this purchase. I have several friends that had 383's built by nationally know companies that regret it. The motor is 425hp out of the box with roller lifters and rockers. I have an air gap manifold with a 770 street avenger, msd 6al and which will push it over 450... I put a dwitt radiator, stock engine fan and the car never gets over 185 even in the heat of summer sitting at lights.. made the trip to Bowling Green and back to Houston with no problems.. Avereged 14.8 for the trip..
Dennis has a great list of parts he used. I used his list and got a lot of advice while I was putting it in. |
