2011 brings back Mustang 5.0 with 412 HP!

I wish that Ford had updated the body more than they did, but this new 5.0 sure sounds good and with this kind of HP right out of the box, I'll bet it cooks right along too:

yeah 412 sounds nice.. but what does it way... like the gt500 vs ls3 c6... look at the 1/4 mile.. weight distribution is key!

and also: what is the MSRP?

EDIT:

Weights:
Manual transmission 3,875
Automatic transmission 4,000

Yeah, I agree that its still a front heavy pig at two tons....but Ford has also done an amazing job with the new suspension making the car handle better than you'd expect. Every review of the Mustang is more complimentary of the handling than that of the new Camaro --- which is also about this heavy! Good discussion -- I'm enjoying this!

I will drive 1 when they are in around springtime...

i will go from a chevy dealership ls3 2ss camaro to this 5.0 with brembo option and give my opinion...

right now i am thinking camaro all the way... but if the mustang wins i will be surprised...

no matter, JSB z06 for me :)

412hp from a 5.0 seems like a winner for those in the market

Curious to see the real numbers from a performance standpoint, a 5L motor is still relatively small displacement for that kind of HP meaning it may be lacking in low end torque which is essential with that kind of curb weight.

Still glad to see Ford upping the stakes here as it always good to have competition..... which always leads to the other guy stepping up their game...... result.... consumer wins:cheers:

I am looking forward to it :D

This new 5 liter shoudl be red hot! 412 hp 390 ft lb peak torque..and weighs about 12 lbs more than the outgoing 4.6 liter. Throw in a six speed transmission (which will add a few more pounds, but at least 200lbs lighter than the Camaro), and these will sell like hotcakes. I wouldn't buy one until the 2012 model for a couple reasons....one the engine is completely new so it may have design faults that will show up in the first year....also every Mustang fan boy will line up to get one of these so discounts even in this economy are not likely. The interior and view out of the current 2010 Mustang is leaps and bounds ahead of the new Camaro. On a positive note if you're dead set on a Camaro....once this Mustang GT comes out, Chevy dealers will be more than willing to discount Camaros that are sitting on their lots gathering dust.

Sounds a lot like an LS2 / LS3 in the video!

Not a big Mustang fan and would never buy one or a Camaro, but since every rag is rating the newer ones so highly, there must be some truth to their newfound greatness and even more shockingly, their handling abilities. (Did I just say Mustang and handling in the same sentence?!).
