Still Drivin in The COLD!!!???
 

Just wondering how many are still out there. Was out for lunch the other day! High of 40 deg. Think I could use a little cardboard in front of the rad. Could have used a little more heat. I now thats not a common problem with these bad boys. Just love having it out though. Can't wait to be able to drop the top again. Not much for running with it up. At least no hitch to pull the boat to the river today for a duck hunt, 14 deg. Got to love the cold also!!! TC

Tim or anyone else in charlotte,n.c. area. I have a 1966 vert and drive all the time regardless of temperature. I do not drive in rain. I drive top down if it is 35 degrees or warmer. yesterday. Sunny and a temperature of 34 in Greenville SC. Had the 64 out for some spirited exercise , top down, gloves, scarf, hat and lots of smiles and waves from the cars I passed ...

Had the 63 out on New Years Day to start the year of right. Going back out again tomorrow. High expected to be less than 35, heater works great, engine temp won't get over 165 but that's OK.

I got a couple of mine out last week. It was in the twenties. We just got another snow storm over the weekend so it will be a while. Anytime the roads are clear and dry, I drive them.

Just curious, I have to drive my '65 a short distance home from the Top Shop and was wondering if anyone else has ever heard that freezing temps can seriously increase the risk of fiberglass stress cracks?

It's really cold in KC; like the daytime highs are forecast for barely above 10 degrees for the foreseeable future....:ack:

Still driving mine. Temps in the low twenties now. I did put the top up a few weeks ago when it dropped into the thirties! The hard top is sitting in the family room where I just finished replacing the seals. I hope to get it on this week.

Yep I'm still driving mine! No top and it was cold as hell on Friday for the New Years cruisin at Grill 57 here in Raleigh.

Don't know about risk of stress cracks being greater in cold weather, my crack sucks shut in the cold if you get my drift.

No need to worry about the stress cracks anyway, they show character.

I drove mine yesterday. It was about 40 in Denver. I took the 66 out for a 1 hour ride, top up. I still need to repair the heater. After living in Ft. Lauderdale for 50 years It's fun driving in the hills.

Took the 65 out yesterday. Temperature in the low 70's. Top down and not a cloud in the sky. Looking forward to the week the 18th when we have 5 auctions taking place. Already have my passes to attend them all.

Temps alone are not a deciding factor, I drive as long as there is no salt on the roads. The prefered winter ride is the Coupe when it is below freezing. Very comfortable after a few minutes to warm up and I can finally get out of second gear around here this time of year. :steering: Pilot Dan

Will it count, by driving our '01 to Mid West City OK from Terre Haute IN. We were hit by 14 in of snow the night we got there, four days later we had to get a wrecker to take the car out to I-40 then we made it home:flag:

I was out yesterday, but it was only about 45 degrees. I was out the day after Thanksgiving and it was 27 degrees. Top down always! Who would ever think you could drive with no top in Oregon in January?

Ski jacket, and wool cap take care of any cold related issues.

Cracks are more likely in cold weather. Just don't hit any bumps.

I haven't seen frost on my car since I left Montana in 1980, now, I figure 65F is minimum for me to venture outside, with 75-80 being ideal.

I do remember taking the top down and cruising town for a few hours in February one time when it got up to 36 F one sunny day in Bozeman after a long cold stretch, just turn up heater and wear jacket and avoid the piles of snow/ice from the plows.

I drove mine last weekend in 40* temps with the top down. Actually, a long time friend was in town and I let him drive. He has and probably will never get a chance to spank something with 800+ HP and a stick trans again...so it was fun letting him nail it a few times. I don't think he stopped grinning for hours!!
