VW Dealership is smoking something...
The VW dealership was asked what a filter, gasket and pan fluid change would cost on my 99 Golf. I asked because I cant get a straight answer on the fluid etc that goes in it, and it needs a tool to check temp prior to oddball way of checking fluid.
Here is what they wanted, for the items asked plus labor. "To answer your service question, VW performs a trans service. They replace the trans pan gasket, the strainer (filter), they remove the fluid from the pan and then refill the trans. Parts and labor est. Would be $499.95+tax. We would need to order the parts and would take about a week to arrive." |

I had an 01 jetta and had similar stupidity come from the service department. I would never own another VW product

:iagree: High maintenance costs and poor reliability = no VWs for me.
Windows fall down due to plastic slips on steel wire breaking, wheel bearings are weak and go quickly. Just a bad vehicle altogether. |
I had my Mercedes done at the dealer for $140. VW must be smoking something.

Here is a simple write up on how to do it. There is a PDF file at the beginning of this write up http://faculty.ccp.edu/faculty/dreed...ech/atf01m.htm |
Do it yourself, save a lot of money, and learn a few things at the same time:willy:
