Sold the Z06 - winter perf. got to me...
Signing off.
I sold my 2004 Z06 and bought a Volvo S40 T5 AWD. The Corvette is a wonderful sports car but it was just too impractical living in the snow belt of the US. The new car's Turbo does well at high Altitude also compared to a N/A engine. The Volvo is down on power for sure but the interior luxury is awesome. I need to mod this thing just to get to 300hp! I wish GM addressed year round sports cars like Porche, Audi, Subaru, etc. Maybe that new Buick coming later. I think our next new family car will also not be a GM - we need a hybrid for high city mileage. Maybe a Fusion, Prius, or Insight. Volt will be costly although Fusion isnt cheap. I can tell already the lowly S40 will beat the Z06 7/12 months around here, but on those hot summer days I will truly miss the wicked speed of the Z06 beast - and get a little sad. Best wishes and safe motoring... Chris |
I wouldn't use mine as a daily driver and I never see snow/ice in my area. Hope you have fun with the new ride, you'll miss the z06 one day! :)

NO Snow here:D

If you wanted a sedan with 300 HP, you could've gone with a number of other vehicles, but for the most part, Volvos are nice vehicles. Actually, having front wheel drive and good snow tires is almost as good and is better than having all wheel drive on all season tires. I lived in CT for many years, but that's why I'm at the other end of the country - I love driving on dry roads.

I sold my 2004 Z06 and bought a Volvo S40 T5 AWD to anyone unless you're talking to a Volvo service writer. Keep track of this and how many times you'll mention Z06 and I'm betting you'll be back in a year or two with 2 cars, a Volvo and a Vette. Jerry |
This is how I deal with the four seasons in Indiana. No selling off of precious HP here at Patches' Place. :nono:

Sorry you had to make that choice. I have a 4x4 pickup for bad days and my Vette for all the rest!

Living within - while I am sure it was a tough decision it also sounds like you have both feet on the ground. Later on when you are in a position to own a fair weather car - GO FOR IT!

I'm sure you made the decision that is right for you. Best of luck with the Volvo - hope it does well for you. And hope that someday you come back into the Corvette fold.

sorry to hear that it sucks! for anyone in that position you might want to consider the new Taurus SHO. 365hp twin turbo all wheel drive...really nice car actually, if you can put up with a V6. I bought one a couple months ago. its go so many features, great car. I have a 97 SHO also with snow tires on it, that's what I drive when the white stuff is on the ground. I drive my C5 all year round as long as its not snowing (much). the new car I bought for chicky
