New crystal red ZR1
Picked up a crystal red ZR1 a couple weeks ago at the Corvette Museum, drove it to Florida and back to Michigan without any bad weather or even a temp below freezing. Really lucky, now its probably parked till mid-April.
Love the car, but I wonder if anybody has noticed an oil smell when the air recirculation button is pushed? Thanks, Mike |
Any pics?
|
Congrats. I have not noticed this oil smell with the air recirc you are talking about.
|
Haven't taken any pics yet. Crystal red looks awesome in the sun, so I'll try to get it outside for pics, if we have a sunny day this week.

Congrats!
As far as the oil smell - if a dry (or wet) lubricant was used on the blend door's moving parts, you might get a smell. If this is the case, it should go away in time, diminishing as it goes. |
Congrats. Jorday and I are both from MI and we often get together in the spring/summer for all sorts of car meets. You should join us sometime. Where in MI are you from?
|
I live in Empire, a bit west of Traverse City, but my business is in Wixom, not too far from where they build The ZR1 engine. I'm usually in Empire, but I come to SW Michigan a lot, the car's at my office now.
I'd be glad to join you sometime, let me know where and when. Mike |
Saw your car in the NCM and it is breathtakingly beautiful. Even my wife, a decidedly non car person, said it was gorgeous.
Enjoy, I am envious. |
CR looks great on the ZR1. Congrats!! They had a CR ZR1 here at the houston auto show. Looked great even with all the hand prints and people leaning against it....eek. I was surprised it wasn't roped off.

Thanks very much for you comments.
On my my trip from Bowling Green to Kissimmee and back to Michigan, through the back roads in the mountains of North Carolina, Tennessee, and South Carolina, every time I stopped the car people stopped to talk and they universally loved the color. I had the same color on a Cadillac XLR-V, but nobody reacted with such excitement - The ZR1 is just a special looking car. :) Mike |
I just hate reading a book without Pictures!

Car is 252 miles away; my camera is good, but not that good. Pics coming on Thursday, if the sun is out.
