Simple SUNVISOR upgrade! Much better than flappy worn visor.

Many of you C5 owners probably have the same ugly, flappy sunvisors dangling in front of you and always annoyed with it. Well, I finally bit the bullet and bought a pair from a member here and they arrived yesterday. So, I opened them up and said " damn, I don't remember mine having mirrors this big"? So upon installation and comparing the mirrors, my "factory" mirror was smaller and guess what else? Mine had no lights and I never realized it!! The new pair had a larger mirror and lights, so I was wondering what to do now. Well, I started the removal of the old visors and low and behold there was the wire and connector up in the headliner for the "lighted mirrors" and mine being a base model had none. Well I simply plugged them in and "BAM" I now have lighted sunvisors that my car never came with. So now I not only have new visors, but a bigger mirror and lights! Just thought I'd share this newfound knowledge.

Very  I love it when stuff like that happens. Makes the purchase all the better.

Why that wasn't standard I have no clue :bs

Yep. All C5s are prewired for visor lights. Trunk lights as well.

It makes you wonder how many other little goodies are lying dormant.

Thanks

thats awesome:cool:. But it makes me sick that GM put unlighted mirrors in a Corvette:ack: kinda like non-power tops on a vert:ack::smash:

How about a comparison shot of the stock mirror and the aftermarket item? I'd be interested in seeing the difference. Sounds like you bought a Corvette "Cracker Jacks" box. Something good that you wanted, with a nice surprise inside.

Post pics of the two side by side

They kept it a manual top, to keep the weight down. I think that was the right call. It's a sports car, not Sebring;)

Glad it worked out wel for you. So many times we anticipate delivery for a needed part and are disappointed. The new mirrors probably raised the value of your Vette at least $2000-$2500............just kidding-Enjoy!

Why anyone would want a power top is beyond me. I can put mine up or down in less than 30 seconds.

My '01 Zo6 has the lighted mirrors. Kinda odd that the 'factory race car' came with such a frill. :D

Both of mine have lights on the mirrors

So did these new bigger mirror with lights visor eliminate the FLAPPY problem you originally had?

I'm interested in finding a way to fix them so they don't bounce up and down, rattling while driving. Would gladly give up mirror and lights for visors that stay put.
