1969 Gauge Cluster Schematic Needed
 

Hey gang,

Does anyone have a schematic for a 69 gauge cluster handy? It is for a neighbors car, he pulled down the cluster for whatever reason and now none of the gauges work anymore. DUH, I said, probably just a ground wire so I volunteered to help him. I guess I should have looked inside first, LOL. The underdash has soooo much aftermarket garbage wiring spliced in it looks like a 3 year old attempted to make spaghetti. :crazy:

Basically, I want to yank the aftermarket wiring that he isn't using and start from scratch to get it back to stock. He ordered a Painless kit for it, but I really would like to have an actual factory schematic and go with that. I haven't had the "best" of luck with some of the Painless kits.

I have access to AllDataPro, but it only goes back to 1982 with the subscription I have.

edit: Oh and btw, by gauge cluster, I am referring to the temp gauge, fuel, etc. not the speedo area, but if anyone has those handy, I will take whatever I can get. :)

I am having a problem on the exact way the connectors go onto the gauge terminenals. Some will only go on one way.

I know in wiring, there is pos/neg. which color is is to which pin?
Do you have one with connectors connected?
Some of the connectors will slip on either way.

Alan71 might have that picture.
 

The space between the male connectors is small medium and large and the same on the females so I guess you got the mates together.
The service manual (chapter 12) shows the "U" shaped hole only on one side of the female connectors and the "U" faces the front of the car.

FWIW: the 69 assembly instruction manual (AIM) shows the cluster connections and lists the color codes. The oil pressure gauge is mechanical.
