Driving in the rain

I see so many ads for Vettes that say "never seen rain". What is the big deal if a car is driven in the rain? Does it make the car worth more $? As long as it is taken care of driving it in the rain should not hurt it at all. I understand that using your car in snow is a different matter as salt from the roads can be corrosive, and Vettes do not handle good in snow especially if it is deep.
So, how many drive in the rain or when roads are wet?

The way I see it, a vette is meant to be driven... it's not like its' a 100K car only meant to be driven in the weekend. I don't see any reason why a car worth 13k should be a garage queen, but that's just me... I feel as long as i take care of it, why not drive it every day. Maintenance always done on time, spend 8 hours once every 6 months detailing, and a weekly wash... i think my vette is pretty happy.

What, you didn't know that vettes' melt in the rain.......... :willy:
That being said I drive my car when ever I want, rain or shine.

Oh no my C6 melted on the way into work today in the rain, damn I need to stop driving for the purest in this weatherhttp://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...ns/coolani.gif

In Southern Cal, we get acid rain, leaves some nasty hard water spots on the paint, under the wheel wells etc. More of a pita to clean it up afterward. Especially when it rains in the morning while the cars in the workplace parking lot, then the sun comes out later and bakes those little dots in. Ya, a good wax helps, but it's just a clean up job that's not fun.

If it was my daily driver, I would drive it in the rain. Gotta do what you gotta do.

When I first bought my 2002 Z06 (in 2006 1400! miles) it was pretty much a garage queen. It was new to me...best damn car I had ever bought and most I had ever had the opportunity to pay for a car.

I'm glad I came around and began the thinking of, "this baby is meant to be driven...constantly!".

I drive it every day (California so lucky that way). I have another car that I drive every now and then to keep the battery alive but I try to drive the vette as much as possible.

That being said...I still will avoid certain parking lots...and I still park way the hell out in the middle of nowhere so there are no trees or mini-vans nearby.

When i bought mine it had 26k on it and had never seen rain, so they said, but I never hesitated to put it in rain.

If rain does that, just imagine what breathing the air (that the rain fell through) does to your lungs. :ack: Need a K&N personnel filter

A friend just took museum delivery on a Grand Sport. He was going to trailer it back, but decided to drive it back. It rained all the way from Bowling Green to Texas.
He spent several days cleaning the underside of the car, but it looks like the car will pull through.

rain

Got 100,000 on mine. Do not drive it in the rain as a rule only because it is too hard to get it all cleaned back up again, but I will. Wife and I had a week end planned in the Gatlinburg area last Jan. It was raining when we left, never gave it a second thought, we just jumped in and took off.

:iagree:

DD here too. Drive it in rain, through mudslide territory, in smog, whatever. It's my only car and it goes where I want to go. Vette's are such good DD cars too if you don't need a back seat, which is sometimes a whole other good reason to make it a DD.

The reason I avoid the rain is because the road spray gets dirt in places I can't get to. I hate opening the hood and seeing a film of dirt on pulleys and frame pieces etc. Parts that you have to have 5 elbows to get to. I don't think it will hurt it, it just makes the clean up more difficult.

Truth is, I hate driving ANY car in the rain, but I have to go to work so my options are few.
