Formal introduction of my new to me C5

I've been waiting to make a formal introduction of my new to me C5 until I got her home and home she is!

This is my new Pewter Metallic 99 FRC. I pick it up right here on the forum from 82-Guy. Before I get to the pics I need to share what a stellar process this all was.

A little over a month ago Guy posted up about selling his 99 FRC. I had been keeping an eye out for a new ride for some time and with the wifes blessing a buddy and I took the 3 and a half hour ride to look the car over.

The pictures and Guy's description did this car absolutely no justice what so ever. I was totally blown away by the car and it way over delivered. My buddy is the president of the local PCA and for being a Porsche guy even he just loved the car.

We sealed the deal over a handshake (not something you see very often anymore) and a couple of days later Guy had a check and I had a title. Guy is car nut and a vette nut and the part that just blew me away was he offered to keep storing the car (in heated storage no less) because he didn't want it to be driven with salt and sand on the road. He stored the car for almost a month free of charge so it wouldn't get dirtied up by our salt covered roads. That was awesome.

Today was a beautiful day to pick up a vette; sunny and 70 degrees. My car made it home intact as did I but my pride however was left in the parking lot of a rest area on the Mass Pike. This is the first time in 15+ years that I've driven a stick and even then it was probably my third or fourth time ever. I won't say how many times I stalled it :o but that was the last place it happened.

I would also like to apologize to the toll operators on the Mass Pike that had to pick any rubber out of their teeth after I left the barriers. It wasn't intentional but sure was fun :reddevil

All car deals should go this way. Guy, you made it a pleasure and are an asset to the corvette community. Enjoy your new GS (she's a beauty!) in good health.

She's a little dirty from the trip.

This is when I first saw the car:

What a great looking C5 (and a great buying experience) - The Pewter Metallic is a cool color!

Enjoy the new toy! Looks like it was very well taken care of by the previous owner....

Wow, I just got my pewter 99 today too. Congrats and good luck with the car.

That's my father-in-law in the pic.

Well loved is an understatement.

I can't wipe this -> :D off my face. Night and day difference from the
C4. The C4 is a bit more raw and muscle car'ish and that's what I love about it; that and the seats. I took the C5 through some twisties and maybe it's just because it is an FRC but it's stiiff and isn't as "noodley".

The best way to sum it up is confidence inspiring. I can't wait to bring it to the Glen and Limerock with the PCA.

Thank you for the kind words, Jim. It was a pleasure dealing with another "car" guy. When Jim came to look at the car, I wouldn't let
him drive it (he didn't want to anyway), but I took him for a short ride, because it was still my baby and it WAS still winter. It's nice to have a 1/4 mile long driveway.

I'm glad she went to another car guy who will enjoy her. I sent Jim an email asking if he played with his DIC on the way home (digital information center) :D.

Jim, I agree and must say, all car transactions should go this way and it WAS a pleasure seeing the smile on your face today and meeting your lovely wife. Good for you she doesn't drive a stick or your would never see the FRC again.

Now, can you all help me convince Jim to attend Vettes at Carlisle?

Miles of smiles, my friend and speed safely.

Congratulations to both of you..buyer and seller. It's great to read that there are still some good people out there...but then again, we expect nothing less from a fellow Vette driver.
Happy and Healthy miles!

You will appreciate the brakes (I literally fried my C4 brakes at Pocono a few years back) but I wish I could put my old cloth C4 seats in the C5. WAY better.

I Always Liked That FRC

Jim,
82-Guy is my best friend and I can tell you that you now own one of the best 99 FRC's on the planet. I've followed that beautiful car to lots of Corvette events not to mention the many trips we've taken with our wives. A lot of good memories. I know it has a good home now...but I'll miss it just the same.
