Hi, all. If anyone has any questions or comments, please put them in this thread, so we can keep the other, upgrade modifications thread, clean enough to be useful to those interested.

Thank you!

Roger that! It is quoted as weighing about 1350 pounds (I haven't actually weighed mine yet), and, as the other thread shows, we made 252 HP to the tires, before we started this performance upgrade.

It's a real HOOT!!:cheers::cool:

When I did my blowover there-(the one pictured on the back of the grandstands at the last race), one of my rear wheels popped off at the highest part of the over-backwards flip. It went up through the landing pattern for Brackett Field, across the road from the fairgrounds!

And then it came BACK through the pattern, coming back to earth!:ack:

If I had (accidently) knocked a plane out of the sky-- wouldn't Wally Parks have been proud!

Not!!

If there ARE any Cobalt/Sky or other LSJ owners watching this--
My www.eddiehillsfuncycles.com dealership is now an authorized dealer for the Harrop superchargers, and I have an LSJ unit in stock right now, that I could ship today.:flag:

Thanks for looking!

My cylinder head is back home now, with the CNC porting all done by
M2race, and the custom Diamond pistons are done and M2race is going to bore the Darton sleeves to match.

Hi Eddy,

New to the forum... so hi all! Eddie have always been a fan! I will be following your build with great interest. I'm in the process of building a fuel bike using the Ecotec coupled to a Lenco.

The Atom's are the pioneers of the exo-cars! They are Amazing cars (and quite Cool looking too, not to mention how well they perform), but priced out of my comfort zone!

How many ponies do you expect out of your Atom when you're done Eddie?

Have you driven one with the Hartley V8 in it yet? I'll bet that's a fun little ride!

Thanks for sharing your build with us!

"My name is Eddie Hill, and I’m a recovering Nitrohaulic. I’ve been Nitro free for 11 years" :) Is there a good retreat that you know of? The LSJ has put out some serious reliable horsepower in the past. This guy is putting out somewhere near the 1500 mark.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My Ecotec project is running, finally, and offers great promise, but learning to tune it with the LSJ ECU and all the upgrades I've done is proving a real challenge. I spent all last winter studying a $250.00 tuning CD from Greg Banish, along with studying three different tuning books. Tuning my top fuel cars was easy, compared to this project.

The good news is that the engine is powerful and responsive enough to hit 11,018 RPM at the end of the longest straight at Eagles Canyon Raceway, when a clutch rated at 350 HP suddenly quit holding.

But the even better news is that the engine survived with no damage, and I have run another track day since without having to do anything to the engine. We took the clutch out and DOUBLED the plate load by putting an additional diaphragm in it. Yes, TWO diaphragms. It holds just fine now.

Here is what the Chevy LSJ engine looked like after I finished all the modifications. I've built a LOT of engines in my time, and this is the last one (so far) that I have personally put together. This one made LOTS of power, and survived an over 11,000 rpm over rev, when the 350 HP rated clutch suddenly quit holding, while I had the throttle wide open, on track.

I am now offering this car for sale as it is pictured here, with a brand new GM crate engine LSJ in the car now, and the modified engine also goes with the sale- (the modified engine blew a head gasket and needs that repair). All the street equipment and all the race equipment goes with the sale. I am putting together a for sale ad and will post it here on the forum when I get the ad finished. I'm thinking 69K for the Ariel, both engines, and all spares.

Reason for selling- I have been an Ariel Atom dealer for seven years and I need to be driving/racing what we are currently offering for sale, and Ariel has not offered Chevy engines for many years. Now all Ariels are Honda powered. Jay Leno took the first Chevy-powered Ariel, and mine pictured here is #72.
