Murphy's oil soap?
I was dropping my daughter off at a friends house Sunday and was driving out of the neighborhood and I spotted the emblem of a ZR1. The guy was outside so I pulled in and started talking Vettes. He was showing me his garage and showed me his section for cleaning supplies. Yes, we all have them. Then he started telling me how great Murphy's Oil Soap is to wash your car. He said it makes them look like they are waxed after every wash. Has anyone ever heard of this? Murphys is a wood treatment. Although I saw a guy at a Ford Mustang Rally use pledge on his car. Let me know what you all think of this. I'm just curious if anyone else uses it. I know I'm not trying it.

I would consider it...it might also be a good leather cleaner to use before using treatment..to get all the grime out of the grain.
|
I know it sounds crazy but this guy swears by the stuff.
|
I use pledge on my dodge , harley , boat , coffee table and will use it on the vette when it is done...I'm not a fan of murphy's oil soap in the house I cant tell that it does much for wood let alone a paint job...
|
I know it's a good cleaner for wood like your kitchen cabinets. Also great for getting stains out of clothing, car seats etc.
I had a pen in my back pocket, ink side up while doing some wood working, got in the car to move it and inked the crapola out of the leather seats (tan, another car). I freaked! My MIL came over and told me to use the Murphys- stuff worked fast, easy and not one remnant of ink on the leather. As far as a car wash, who knows? |
I would think it would streak real bad if you didnt use a chamois or similar. Folks swear by things others wouldnt even consider. Someone told me that they use Mop N Glo floor polish to put a lasting shine on their tires.

It's great on leather products. My father has a few old cars. Old as in, 1911, etc...
All the Brass Era guys use it on their leather seats and they are holding up. So it will withstand time  |

My son used to work for a chevy dealer and they used windex to shine up the used cars
|
Pledge works awesome for getting dead bugs off the front of your car. Spray it on, wait a minute and wipe it off and the dead bugs come right off.
|
I know it works great on black leather. (the oil soap)
My buddy uses windex to clean his billet wheels after taking his car out. |
My buddy used to own a body shop and the cars that were going to the auction he used to wipe the paint down with WD-40 to give it a deep shine.... I'd try the murphys soap on the wife's car to see how it works
|
I never would have thought to use this on my cars.
|
It's amazing what people come up with. Genous, pure genous Loyd.
