The Perfect Burnout, how to?

What is the best way to do a burnout. I mean really smoking the tires. I have a set I want to burnoff before I put on my new rears.

I don't want to wreck the car physically or mechanically.:lurk:

2nd gear, raise the rpms, dump it, stab the brake quickly with your left foot while staying on the gas.

Well the "perfect" way to do it would be to use a line lock, but the method above will work.

winters97gt. This won't damage the best in any way?

Raise RPM to how much?

:iagree:

Perfect burnouts everytime with a line loc

TheDingo 04-05-2010 06:24 PM

when you stab the brake dont do it too hard or the rear tires will stop spinning, therefore, stalling the car. enjoy your new tires!

camaroracer91 04-05-2010 07:13 PM

why in second, and not in first?

tires rotate faster. 2nd gear burnout, but I should not have bounced off the limiter after I let off the brake. No line lock

nothing like being at the track in front of a 100+ people and stalling your car.

You shouldn't be doing big burnout anyways on street tires. You just wanna spin them couple times nothing serious.

He is not racing.

1.) turn off traction control
2.) push clutch in
3.) put it in 1st or second
4.) put the top (toe) portion of your right foot on the brake with medium pressure
5.) use heel of your right foot to push the gas pedal.
6.) take it to about 4k
7.) let out on clutch

This is called the heel-toe method. it takes a bit to get down, but is the only way to do a good burnout without a line lock

dieseldave56 04-06-2010 04:14 AM

it's a device that you can put on a switch that locks only the front brakes. most any dedicated drag car will have one. if you can perfect the heel-toe method, there's no reason to have one on the typical street car

PRE-Z06 04-06-2010 06:29 AM

or 3rd if you really wanna smoke them, harder on the clutch though...I've got a video of laying rubber for ~1/8 mile 0-90mph
