Advice road trip to Roseville, Ca
 

I'll be driving my '08 C6 1500miles from Fort Hood in Texas to Roseville, California. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm Looking for a shop in the Roseville area that knows how to treat a vette for general service (oil Change).

Can Someone recommend a good shop in the Roseville Cali. area?. :flag:

Take it to forum vendor MSI - they're in Roseville. They have donuts and coffee get-togethers every saturday morning

If you change the oil before you leave, at 1500 miles, on the interstates, you will probably still have 80% or more remaining.

You can easily drive 3000 miles on a fresh oil change.

Are you sure? I live 5 miles away from Roseville, CA (near Sacramento). I've never heard of another one in California. What major city is it near?

hogasm -- Motor Sports Image is on Atlantic Street in Roseville. Its an easy city to get lost in because the streets are at odd angles, and there are tunnels and 'cant get there from here' locations due to the train tracks and the large rail yard. Bring your navigation system.

I never heard of it either. But Mapquest also shows a Roseville located very near San Diego Intl airport and a couple miles north of Point Loma Naval Base... maybe the OP has a connection with the military or nearby Mexico?

NoCalif's Roseville is ~1800 miles from Ft Hood, whereas SoCalif's Roseville is ~1300 miles.

No, I only knew of one Roseville,Ca ... Rand McNally knows of only the one near Sacramento. Thats near where I'm going to actually Lincoln,Ca.(clean up elderly parents farm/ ranch/ estate)

Once i get into south California I plan on taking 395n scenic route north from near Barstow. I'm planning on dropping into the Valley around Tahoe... That was a nice ride many years ago. I hope it still is.

I agree about the roads /tunnels & cut-offs (GARMIN)
I worked at the Southern Pacific yard as a Lab Intern 30+ years ago. MSI sounds like a winner so far

Yup 395 is a very nice cruise up to Tahoe. Truckee up on 80 has good eats for lunch. Then from there stay in the fast lane going down the big hill to Lincoln because the snow and the chained trucks have beat up the slow lane sumptin terrible. Watch out for CHP on 80 they are very sneaky in that area. Get in pack and run with the dogs and you wont get popped.

If you have time take 40 past Donner lake and over Donner pass then down parallel to 80 to Cisco then back on 80. This is my local cruise from where I live and its very nice.

I agree with 06 C6 vert - I80 coming down from Tahoe, stay away from the slow lane, saying it's beat to he** is an understatement. As you come down closer to Auburn area, fight the temptation to go fast, CHP will likely get you and it ain't a cheap ticket.

:iagree: It is a beautiful trip. It sounds like you know CA pretty good but I would probably enter through Death Valley. What a big change between below sea level to around 8k.

Lots of good ways...I was just adding a change from the mapquest route which is the worst possible way to make it a nice trip. If I were in a Corvette, I would probably go north and through Nevada....the important thing is NOT to go on big interstates the whole time.:thumbs:

Likley you will be closer to the north side, so Hyatt North Shore. Nice place and nice casino, not as busy as South Shore.

Yup for sure, North Shore much nicer than South shore. The Hyatt at N shore just got a huge upgrade.
