Let's See Some 315's From The Rear

Hey guys,
I'm going to be buying some AFS ZR1 polished replicas within the next week or so, and I was wanting to see how much the tires are going to stick out past the fenders.
Let's see em

Ask COPO, I think he is going 355 or something crazy. (shortend rear)

The flares on the rear of mine are a lot bigger than the factory ones. With stock quarters they would definitely stick out some, but not too bad. The best place to judge is forward of the rear marker light. I also have some negative camber that is keeping the top in.

They'll sit flush, just go with about 1.5 degrees of negative camber in the rear and they're perfect. If you go with typical alignment shop specs 0-.5 +/- they'll stick out.

When I took my car to the alignment shop, I just eyeballed it flush while the tech was moving the camber adjuster in the rear. Once flush, I just told him to hold it there. It ended at about 1.4 neg in the rear and was inline with the VBP suggested baseline "handling" settings.

That is incredible. I want my car to look like yours! :willy: What wheel/tire combo is that? How did those FIT? I have an '86, can I fit those on mine? I love the blue too. Sorry, I don't mean to go on, but I absolutely love the way your car looks.

Do the 315's have room on the inside? If so couldn't you use a higher offset wheel to help tuck them??

OR
Are they a way to "mini tub" or possibly shorten the rear axle.
I would really like to to run 315's but don't want the skated look.

The 315 R-compounds on mine barely hit the inner wheel well. The only time they hit is under hard cornering, but they do hit. Obviously you aren't going to have quite the same problem on street tires but even then I don't think there is room to go in any farther than stock without something drastic (mini-tub).

Below, you can see how much travel you will have even with a VERY stiff suspension. Just because you may have clearance sitting still doesn't mean you will when things are moving.

How do they wear with that much camber?
Dude, you have the best looking C4 I've ever seen. When I saw this yesterday, I had to change shorts

That's not really much camber at all. Like I said, it's inline with VBP specs posted in the ZR1 forum. Any of the lowered cars shown above also are naturally cambered in from being lowered because you have progressive camber gain as the suspension compresses. So, they're sitting at about the same 1-1.5 of neg camber.

Wear is really more of a toe issue. Yes, your placing a little more pressure on the inside of the tire, but in turning the tire is becoming more evenly loaded. It's nothin to worry about.

That is beautiful :yesnod:

Quick question for you guys:
Should I buy the AFS wheels with the cheap Sumi's or the AFS wheels with the more expensive Vredestein package? I've priced both tires, and for $100 more, I'm really getting $400 more worth of tire. What do ya'll think?
