Key Fob Battery CR2032 vs DL2032

Did I buy the wrong battery? I looked for the 2032 not realizing that the first two letters are different...did I break the fob?

Help!

i bought the DL's and the Fob doesn't respond at all now :( So i'm worried i fried the key fob with the wrong battery size. What is worse is that fob is at home and i'm at work so the wrong battery will be sitting in there all day :'(

I have a 2007. My fob takes a CR2032. Did the battery you bought fit? I doubt you broke anything unless you forced it in. Get the right battery re-install and see what happens. You might have to re-program the FOB when you change the battery. Good Luck hope this helps

It's possible you installed the battery wrong side up. Make sure the "+" -- the all silver side -- faces down into the socket. When the battery is installed correctly in its socket, you should be able to see the negative side's insulation collar ring just inside its outer edge.

well i'm worried the polarity of the DL is different from the CR ... i'll buy a CR later today and try it tonight, just hoping i didn't ruin the fob

I bought CR2032. I doubt polarity would break the fob or if somebody installed the battery backwards, the fob would be ruined.

You could use a volt meter and make sure the battery you have is 3V. If it is 3V, fits and is installed correctly (polairty), it shoudl work.

yes it is 3V, says it on top, the package says medical battery though...should have triggered something for me :(

Hello,
I did a quick search and a DL2032 is just a duracel replacement for a cr2032 as best I can see. You got the right battery. Maybe you bought a bad one or installed upside down but they are the same. The energizer is ECL2032 for example. I went to a battery site and looked for 2032.

Duracell Batteries: DL2032 3V Lithium Battery
Cross Reference: 5004LB, 5004L, CR2032, BR2032, LM2032, ECR2032

ahh ok maybe that is it, i will try and install it the correct way when I get home.

thanks!!

This is correct, Duracell just uses DL to be a pain...if the battery is a 2032, it will be fine.

thats what i get for going with Duracell versus cheap CVS brand, hope it works, if a fob doesn't have a battery in it for a few days will it need to be reprogrammed? or does it maintain that rolling code ?

cclive 06-11-2010 01:29 PM

Any 2032 will be fine and the fob will not lose anything if it goes without a battery for a while. I buy batteries like this 10 at a time for 35 cents each and they work fine too.
