1980 Stock air cleaner intake duct

1980 So should it be over the radiator or down by the fender. My assembly manual and Ecklers website say fender but it had it over the radiator when i got it. Which is better. I have a 383 going in and wanted to get some cooler air to it. i figured the stock setup is better than pullling air from inside the engine compartment.

Both.
There should be two ducts.
If only one you have a pre79 L48 setup.

:iagree:All 80s used a dual snorkle air cleaner. One duct comes over the radiator. The second duct is mounted to the right inner fender. Both ducts are connected to the air cleaner by 2 flexible hoses, an oval to oval one in the front and an oval to square shapped one on the side.

I didn't see the stock cleaner housing on ecklers with two inlets. Do you think i should buy the missing one and get it in there or get some sort of aftermarket setup.

You won't see it there, or in any other catalog either. GM stopped making them years ago and no one has, or probably ever will, repro it.

If you want to use the stock dual snorkle air cleaner, you'll have to find a used one, which shouldn't be to tough. There were 40,000+ 80's built, all with the same air cleaner and the 78-79 L-82s used the same unit too. The 81 air cleaner will work also, but it is not 100% identical to the 80 cleaner.

1980 L-48; L-82 ducting was the same.
