Front Brake Hose - help please
 

Hi all -

I tried to replace the front brake hoses on my '73 today. Both of the nuts that screw down through the mount to the rubber hose below were significantly stripped when I started. I could get a 3/8" wrench on them barely but the metal was as soft as putty. I don't have a flare wrench but doubt it would have done anything anyways. Got one off but the other is stuck. I put some PBlaster on it. Any ideas for getting the thing off? Also, how do I replace that nut/screw that comes down from the top and where can I get that part? Do I have to but a whole new brake line?

Pardon the typos in the heading - apparently I was frustrated. I tried to change the heading in the advanced tab but it doesn't seem to be taking.

If you can heat it safely with a hand held torch,or even aheat gun, this always frees stuff for me. (can use tin foil to shield other stuff.Heat as hot as you dare, let it cool. Soak it again with PB Blaster or Kroil. If you can wait, soak it several times for over a day. Then use GOOD (USA made) vise grips with clean sharp teeth, and gently rock it (tight /loose). Should come out. May twist up the tube/hose-expect to replace that line,too. Go through this yearly with my plow trucks...sigh. The salt rots out fuel and brake lines in a year or two.

I have the same situation on mine '81,my nuts is blocked,I have used a vise grip but it become round.
I have decided to replace the hard line from rubber hose to proportioning valve.
You can find the spare in all vendors for $ 10/15.
