2005 to 2008 Steering Wheel Swap
My neighbor down the street bought a 2005 C6 in the spring and has asked me if he can replace his 4 spoke steering wheel with a 2008 three spoke C6 steering wheel like I have in my car. I have a 2006 C6 and have no clue if the swap is a simple change out or if the difference in air bags and clock spring matter. He called the dealer and they said they where not sure and would get back with him so I told him I would ask the forum. Any thoughts? Thanks!

crakavelli: Can you post all what you purchased and approximate cost for those who are interested? Thanks! |
Parts & costs:

Thanks for the detailed response!
Seems like the airbag is one of the most expensive pieces here... |
Geez! That's expensive! Especially the air bag module.
What does the whole thing cost used? |
How about the trim bezel behind the steering wheel? Do you have to replace that or does the 2006+ wheel have the same depth as the 2005?

NRG makes a Hug adapter that they list as being for a 2006 -2013 Corvette. From reading your post it looks like the steering shaft and everything the steering wheel bolts to are the same on a 2005 and 2006 Corvette. Could you please confirm that this is a fact. |
Look guys call gm parts for pricing. I changed my 05 to 07 with new parts including air bags for around 250.new parts. I definitely would not use resale parts.

Hi Guys,
So i just swapped my 05 steering wheel with an 07 ZO6 wheel with radio controls on it. I bought the wheel from a member on here and found the Air bag module on ebay. When i was hooking it up i noticed the 2 connectors on back of the old module dont fit the new one. Also, there is a ground wire for the air bag which is black. I am sure alot of guys on here made it work and wondering how you guys got it to work. I belive the 2 connnectors are 1 for horn and other maybe air bag. How did yoy guys make it work and also if any of you got the radio controls on the steering wheel to work as well. I am planning on swapping the stock radio unit with an after market nav/bluetooth one. |

Airbag connections are yellow and have a double style lock. That is all I remember from when I went from a stock wheel to a DSV wheel.
Yes, I see that but my question remains un-answered. Ill try to rework it - are the connectors different from 05 to 07 model or could it be that i got a Z06 steering wheel? Thanks in Advance |

Same wheel. Maybe you have the wrong clockspring.
So if replace the clock spring with an 07 this should fix the problem? |
