I'm attempting to fix my rocking drivers seat today. :skep:
|
I purhased a set of washers and did my drivers seat first, good instructions, but if you have sport seats do not pry off the up and down and forward seat adjuster as in the picture. Also the old washers were competely gone, disenegrated, seat is now tight, no more movement
|
Okay, so the new washers didn't fix my rocking seat. It appears that one of the tracks is loose at the pivot points so I'm just going to have to live with it. It appears that my preferred seating position - steeply raked seat cushion, all the way down in the back, all the way up in the front - exacerbates the rocking. Other settings with the front lower do not rock as much.
Oh, and my favorite at the show this afternoon was this '62 in Sateen Silver with Red interior: http://i1086.photobucket.com/albums/...6192011148.jpg |
spacers
Do you still have them for sale? I sure need a set. Thanks:cheers:

Spacers are back in stock and ready to ship.
Currently NOT accepting Paypal since they have decided to screw with my account for no apparent reason. Payments accepted by check/money order via mail only for the time being. |
I fixed my "rocking seats" two weekends ago. I picked up the 8 nylon spacers at ACE for $2.64. The whole job (2 seats) took me under 3 hours! Seat tracks are like new now...no more rocking!!:willy:

ive been trying to get the t40 bolts undone for the last 2days with no luck i dont see how you can get any kind of wrench on it
|
wrench
Use one of those bits that comes with a scredriver with assorted bits. Put a GOOD 1/4 inch wrench on it and you'll get it.

.....if all else fails, crank down with a set of large vice grips. |
Phace,
Here's the info: Parts Required: 8 Nylon Washers total. 3/4" OD, 7/16" ID, 1/8" THICK. ACE Hardware for $0.33 each. The ACE part number for these washers is 59558K. Good luck! Mike |

While you CAN use standard nylon washers, the 1/8" is too thick. They will need to be sanded down by hand since the required thickness is not commonly available.
For the record, sanding 4-8 tiny pieces of nylon by hand is not the easiest or enjoyable thing to do. After all the work for this fix, my seat still has movement up and down. It looks like I need to weld one of the joints. Oh well, it is a hobby I guess! |
