ECS Forged 346/Novi 2000-SC 800 package

Its been awhile since I posted here and I wanted to give a review of my new engine.....

A few months back on my old Head and Cam Set-up, I unfortunately blew my engine.... It was fugly..I opened her up a bit on the NJTP and...BAM!.....billowing white smoke... the clang of metal on the pavement.... ooh-fah!... I hate it when that happens..I will fess up... it was my fault.... I pushed that engine hard.. had alot of fun with it.. but.. unfortunately it came to an end. Everything locked up which is an ominous sign. Originally Chris thought it was the timing chain, But I believe that was not the case. Actually the pictures of it are on the ECS Facebook site...I put some nice holes thru the block.. They are quite entertaining to say the least..personally, my favorite is the picture of the dipstick .....Im glad that the ECS crew finds me f'n amusing..LOL

So after talking over strokers, displacement, 402's, 416's and the such... Chris convinced me to go with the SC 800 package..He told me that it would run smooth as silk around town and be a beast on the boost... It's Pretty much a Forged 346 with the ECS blower Cam and Stock LS6 heads, Stage one fuel system, Dual Nozzle Upgrade, and the best part a Paxton Novi 2000.. I also added a customized Dewitt radiator as she was running a little bit warm...and had the crew put in a twin disc clutch... as I have this nasty habit of breaking things....Rakes... Lawn Mowers...Vette Engines...Necks... The old Tex was great for when it did 483 RWHP. but not for the new package.. I figured to upgrade when the engine was out

So.... in Laymen's terms... how is it?.... its F'N awesome...it runs smooth as stock around town and in traffic, as opposed to that lumpy old Cam (I do sometimes miss it, although my neighbors dont) and when you get a chance to open her up on the highway ..and the Boost kicks in...it flies like a freakin Jet....834 RWHP and 720 RWTQ... I never thought I'd go FI... but you know... once your blown.....

So.... Chris and Doug and the rest of the ECS crew... great job...it is an awesome set-up....With more HP than I will ever need..hopefully I wont be coming in on a wrecker anytime soon.

How about a pic of the dyno graph. I would be very interested to see the torque curve and how it comes in -----

Very nice numbers, how much boost are you seeing on your setup?

You have twice the hp/tq I do! :steering:

Congrats! Sounds like a beast. How many #'s of boost?

Chris@East Coast Supercharging 10-07-2010 09:43 AM

I will get Mike to come here and post the graph..

We are seeing right in the 16-17 pound range..

Glad you are enjoying it.

I'm jealous.....

Be safe with that animal! :willy:

Heres another similar package that we did last year and had it check over and re dynoed a few weeks ago. Its a consistant, repeatable package that performs every time. This package has gone into the 8's in the qtr mile as well!!!

With those numbers, I was expecting a stroker motor. That's some great power from stock cubes/Novi 2000. Time for a Power Glide and he'd be running 8's all day. Great work as usual.

That's the same exact recipe I'm following. Just need some pistons, rods, and a fuel system.

Are you using an OD crank balancer or stock diameter on your setup?

That's a good question.. maybe Chris could answer that

Mike69@ECS 10-08-2010 03:03 PM

I dont believe either one had an OD balancer on them...You could but with 850 to the tire, do you really need more boost?:leaving::D

So much for the ol' saying...."there's no replacement for displacement."

Fantastic results! Just keep the right side up, and be safe.

Those were both stock dia balancers, with a three inch head unit pulley, with our std eight rib belt.
