Another Lethal Z in the 10s - On street tires!

10/10/2010 - a day of tens. And that included my fastest time ever. Running on Nitto Invos at 22PSI rear, 38PSI front.

Most of the day was horrible with wheel spin all over the place. I was seeing 60' times around 2.2, 2.3, 2.1, with a best of 11.41 @ ~129 MPH. The guy at the booth wasn't paying attention to the time, so I didn't get warned that time. So I parked it for awhile and watched some pretty nice cars getting ready for Pinks All Out being taped there next week by the Speed channel. Then they announced that the "world's fastest Trailblazer" was in the staging lanes, and they started laying down some fresh VHT. Well, perfect! Got right behind him. Then a Charger blew his tranny, and we sat for 20 minutes while they re-prepped my lane and they moved the Trailblazer to the right lane. Put one car in front of me on fresh prepped track. Woo hoo!

Last run of the day (well, no choice since the kind lady at the booth said, "This is the only warning you're going to get!).

I'm definitely no Ranger when it comes to driving, but I have to say it was a damn good feeling when I looked at the time slip. :D

Nice run Evil427...
Congrats in getting into the 10's
Is the new clutch holding up?

That 1/8 mph is solid! Feels good when you reach your goal. Congrats!

Thanks!

Yes, this BC2 definitely takes a beating. It seems that it actually engages smoother the hotter it gets. It may be noisy at times and often "grabby" when it's warming up, but it is most certainly a track animal, no doubt.

When its time to replace my stock clutch, I'm leaning toward the BC2 or the LS9 clutch (Katech version).
Thanks for your feedback.
Again congrats.

very nice

it's all in the 60ft, lower the tire pressure and launch it harder :D

How low should you go with street tires?

it just depends......

drag radials will get you into the 10's more consistently, and probably keep you safer at the strip. drag radials come with a trade-off. they dont ride as nice as a runflat, they wear quicker, suck in the rain, and they 'float' around on the highway. An ideal situation is to have a spare set of wheels/tires for the strip.

My repro 18inch wheels with MT's (305-35) got the job done at the strip and on the skreet, but i missed the way the 19inch wheel looked and rode. Not to mention I hated studying the weather everytime I wanted to drive my z when the mt's were on.

good luck

Thanks, everyone. I'm content for now knowing that there's even more in it. I soft launched thinking it was going to spin again, but was surprised when it bogged a little, then grabbed and went! Exhilarating. :D
