expensive heads on a stock bottom end FI Lt1..would you do it?

My heads are the weak point of my setup.

10 psi boost
218/228 hotcam
monoblade throttle body
meth injection

....stock, mildly ported heads.

Anyways, the thing runs fine (despite what everyone says about a boosted stock lt1 being a ticking bomb).

Would you install afr competition ported heads ?

Or is the risk of a bottom end failure to great to risk ruining heads over.

Keep in mind, I think I can buy afr heads in a bigger cc size to lower my CR a little bit.

how many miles are on the bottom end? Who knows how close it is to total destruction

The main advantage of aftermarket heads is to allow the car to breath better at higher RPM's. If you are running a stock bottom end I would limit your engine RPM's to 6000 and ported stock heads will work fine at that RPM. If you plan to rev higher then 6000 RPM then the aftermarket heads would help power but the stock botom end is not up to the job, so I would not spend the money to upgrade the heads until you redo the bottom end. Otherwise you will end up with junk aftermarket heads after the bottom end lets go.

Heads may help, but since it is boosted, and you are ramming air down them, does it really matter. I mean on a N/A engine, airflow is a big thing, but with boost and forcing air down...IDK that it would make as much of a difference. I'm not saying they would not help but is it worth it? $$$ Wise.

Heads would help bigtime. In theory you will make more power with less boost.

I wrecked my AFR heads without boost. :)

Actually I had a 400.00 estimate to fix em. No valve damage. Just looks like they were hit with a shot gun.

I would buy the heads.

I think it would help alot.I had a Grand National years ago,and the guys that did head work made more power at less boost.Airflow is airflow, forced or not. With everything the same as it is now,and a set of bigger ported heads, you will probably see a drop in boost, but be making more power because its more efficent.Intercoolers are big power gainers too.
