Where can I fined the code and how can I tell if its on? thanks

when car is off is light by the volume control blinking?

if it is it is on, if not it is off.

read in your owners manual on how to set it.

either you did or a previous owner.

it comes from the factory off so you can set it.

:eek:you run the risk of shorting the hell out of a lot of stuff if your wrench grounds itself to a metal peice somwhere:lol:

Another vote for disconnecting the negative first!

The wrench turns blue when you hit something metal.:ack:

Removing the pos first that is.

Always do the negative first. This is especially important on metal cars where all of the metal is tied to the battery negative post. If you accidentally touch a metal part with the wrench while taking off the positive cable you will quickly start welding the wrench, will generate a large blue white spark that will temporarily blind you and hot pieces of the wrench may fly around and damage other things.

On the Vette that isn't quite as important because most things (other than the negative terminal and attached cable) don't conduct electricity so if you hit a body panel or other car part the chance of shorting out the battery is greatly reduced.

I always thought negative first as well. Then one day I had a problem with the car not starting and got the "pull Key wait 30 seconds" message. In the end it wouldn't start. I went through the manual is it said to pull the POSITVE only and wait one minute , then reinstall. Sure enough it worked and that was the end of it.

Apparently, the passcode wasn't send from the BDM to the PCM and pulling the positive only triggered a reset. Really strange.

Still, other than that, negative first.
