I just got back from testing Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires in Dubai

I had to keep this quite.........
After a 14 hour flight we touched down in Dubai on 11/17 around 8pm.
Then we had our formal introductions, met other “influencers” from around the globe and got to see the new tire. No Vette tires today...........but they are coming :D

11/18 we played here: http://www.dubaiautodrome.com/wp-con...ettingtoda.jpg

We were there most of the day with these new tires/competitors tires as a “Test Driver” on “the world’s most unique vehicles” as well as being a passenger in some very exotic super cars,
11/19 we wind down and get to experience the “local flavor” with the rest of group. Left around 11pm and got back home around 10am today.
I will post more details and pics later..........the official press release is set for Tuesday.
THIS IS A STICKY STREET TIRE :D

Are the tires going to be worth the $$$?

Cloaked323 11-20-2010 05:35 PM

Michelin has let me down when they discontinued the MPSC in 345 30 18, So do me a favor and post if they produce a tire that size

18" in those tire sizes is looking slim..........I have already asked that question as I run those sizes

There is no size pricing yet but I discussed that in detail with them
Here a few pics of what we played with

So is this designed to be in the same class as the Pilot Sport Cup or Pilot Sport?

Allthrottleandsomebottle 11-21-2010 03:02 PM

Hehehe.........Michelin contacted me directly. Some based on my online threads reviewing and working on cars, tires and wheels and that I post about my track fun.
There will be an official PR Tuesday and they have asked be to limit what I post but............yes this will replace a few of their tires :D
300 tread wear on these no less..........here is a preview...these tires are on ALL these cars :D

Our group of ~15 has world wide name recognition.......one car into the wall(30mph), wasted the brakes on a dancing horse & a Lambo :D:flag:
They found we really really tested those tires........I know I did :smash: 1 lap to learn the track....then it was on for each 2 or 5 lap session.
I will post later on my on track evaluation of these tires and picking the brains of their tech guys..........here are a couple pics of what we flogged :willy

Cool but just as a reminder the first thing we really want to see are the sizes http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/imag...es/popcorn.gif lucky dog:D

Allthrottleandsomebottle 11-24-2010 09:12 AM

I did try to do my signature burn-out..........but was requested not to :D
I cannot speak to the final $$$/sizing yet but this tire is at least as sticky as my Toyo Proxes RA1 and Bridegstone expedia S-01s I have run on the 97'.
I hope to be testing these on a Vette soon......
These tires stick well for a full 9/32 tread. I tried hard to get these tires to lose control on Audi/Porsche/Lambo/BMW, etc and they were very predictable and easy to bring back in shape as they talked back to the driver very well. No busy hands at all for me to control the cars. Late/early apex, late braking totally out of position in a corner and I could still easily real the car back in line at speed.
These could make a bad driver look good or a driver that drives to the track on them very competitive.
Seems to me these would be good for an autocrosser as well.
A very well thought out multi use tire to beat on.....and I have yet to drive with these on a Vette :D

At days end I looked at the tires on EVERY car there and I would not hesitate to jump in and drive 100+ miles home. THEY LOOKED GOOD!
All these cars had to have at least a hard 50 laps on them.

If I had to guess......some possible sizes to start with :leaving::

I just got the Michelin close outs on the previous generation Cup tire. I paid $129.00 each. They can't be that much slower than this new generation. Oh - $129 each and since I bought a set of 4 I got a $70 rebate.

google searched this tire and came up with a few articles and some video. As per the article the Super Sport will replace the PS2. As far as wet traction it is like the PS3.
