Must be a pilot. I don't think a Corvette has that many functions to monitor

Fuel, Altitude, Trim, Rinse, Spin, Fluff .....

Mike Terry 11-29-2010 09:39 AM

You would burn up a tank of fuel starting and shutting down that thing. Glad I did not have to wire that thing behind the dash. WOW.

66BlkBB 11-29-2010 09:57 AM

You'd need a co-pilot to run this thing.

Moto One 11-29-2010 09:57 AM

That's one way of keeping up your scan if your a IFR rated plane driver.

That dash cluster gives new meaning to "distracted driving". :toetap: Dennis

I don't think so.

Photo tag reads, 66 Corvette, Eldersburg Maryland car show.

Crazyhorse 11-29-2010 12:44 PM

That's a lot of work to go thru and then leave a rats nest of wire hanging from the stereo

Oh, sure. Stuff like brake fluid temp, hydraulic pressure of brakes and power steering, nose-up/nose-down attitude on acceleration/braking, compass, altimeter, radar scrambler, relative charge of the extra Optima battery needed to run the panel, etc.

It gives meaning to the automotive term "cockpit". Looks to be hard on the driver's knees, though.

They forgot the all important 'yaw string' indicator...
Pop quiz....how many know what that is ???
F-14 pilots wouldn't launch without one...

HINT: Watch the "Top Gun" flight sequences that show the cockpit from the front and you'll see them in action!

I might know?
I was watching a show this past weekend about the worlds smallest planes.
Guy had a string tied to what appeared to be a short antenna on one of those chainsaw engine helicopters.

Good answer. We always joked on the flight line about the $.98 piece of clothesline needed to fly a $24M airplane...

:iagree: He goes to all of that work and then mounts the radio underdash. Looks like a switch fetish to me. LOL

Where's the HUD?

rayvaflav 11-29-2010 03:35 PM

Perhaps the real blashpemy here is the matte black N36 telescopic steering column adjustment ring.
