C4 Emergency-Courtesy Keys

I have determined that the below Emergency/Courtesy Keys were used for the C4's. I would be interested to know exactly what years they were utilized. I know the first photo shows an emergency key that was utilized at least from 1990 to 1993. The 1990 Key had a D imprinted in the key blank and the 1991 to 1993 had a H imprinted, These keys were plastic.
The second photo shows a Courtesy Key utilized in 1995. It is brass and has the VIN imprinted on it.
I am particularly interested in a response from an original owner to let me know where the key was located when they took delivery. Any background information would be appreciated.

When I got my 89 I was given a key that looked like that, but no one knew what it was for and thought it was a blank of some sort. Sounds like they were used earlier.

Emergency Key

Thanks for the response. This helps in establishing the time line for these keys.
When you got it, how did you get it? Was it in the Owners Portfolio, place somewhere in the Corvette or did the dealer give it to you.

Once again, thanks:smash:

You're welcome.
They just handed it to me, on the same key ring as the regular keys.

Never received anything like that with my new '93 I still have the owners manual and all literature. My '92 of which I'm the 2nd owner has nothing like that in the original manual and leather portfolio either.

No pellet resistor in the key. Would have to be before the pellet started.

1991 Second owner, Was in the ZR-1 owners kit, I believe it is a door key only.

Nothing like that with my '87, but I did get three
ignition keys (with VATS) and two door keys. The
car came into my garage brand new (late wife bought
it).

don't need it for the door. It's just to get you in in case you lock your keys up

My father in law had a 94 Bonneville with those plastic "wallet keys". I know cause we had to use them once, they're just to get in if you lock keys inside.

After looking at the pic a little closer, it says DOOR ONLY on it. Reading is really important!

the GM capirce 1992 and 1993 have square ignition key E profile / the doors and glovebox are the same and have oval H key , I got a spare set in plastic , needed already once and are cut to my red Caprice door and ignition plastics if you have a set of these still blank then you could steel a car ! so maybe that's why they stopped distributing them , but now you could make a 3 D plastic print from a;meatl blank and so make your own emergency keys ( bad idea for serious people good idea for thieves of classics !
