FS: 2003 Z06, 67.5k miles, cam+headers+vararam, 406hp, $17,500
** Car is now S O L D **
My family is growing and I now need a car with a back seat, so I unfortunately have to part with the Z06. The bright side is I've talked the wife into a BMW M5 . Now to get my current car sold without getting raped by trading it in to a dealer. Here are the details of the car as best I can describe along with some photos... - James T. Location: Melbourne Beach, FL 2003 Corvette Z06 Color: Black Interior: Black leather Mileage: 67,xxx (it's my daily driver, so this will slowly increase) Transmission: 6 speed manual VIN: 1G1YY12S135103296 No accidents, I'm 2nd owner, garage kept, non-smoker, will order a Carfax if you want one. http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...6/DSCN0148.jpg http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...6/DSCN0151.jpg http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...6/DSCN0147.jpg Upgrades / Mods: - Comp Cams 224/230 114 XFI Cam - LG Street Longtube Headers with high-flow cats (also have cat-delete pipes if you want them) - Vararam cold air kit - Drilled + Slotted rotors, Hawk HP+ brake pads - Nitto NT-05 tires (~8k miles) - 30% tint on windows (FL legal) - Dyno show 406hp/389tq after cam and headers Sound clips (requested): Note: All clips taken with a Samsung Galaxy S smartphone sitting in the passenger seat, windows up. Sorry for the poor quality. Idle: https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0BxZ...=COuryh0&hl=en Normal launch: https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0BxZ...CK-9gcwP&hl=en Downshift to 2nd and ...: https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0BxZ...CN_WlYYH&hl=en Exterior Condition: (7/10) - Paint is in good shape with no loss of clearcoat, but has typical small scuffs and dings of a 8 year car. Almost all of of the paint issues can be resolved with a buffer and some time. - Driver's side rear-view mirror glass auto-dim film is foggy. Replacement ($70 part, 5 minute install) (pic) - Driver's side door weatherstrip has a tear and needs replacing ($170 part, 15 minute install) (pic_01,pic_02) Interior Condition: (8/10) - Seats are in excellent condition with no tears, rips, or stains. Driver's side shows more wear since I'm usually driving alone. - OEM Bose CD radio and speakers. Only issue is the lettering on the number "1" and "3" buttons are showing wear. - Climate control backlight is dim, but works fine. $170 replacement part, but I'm pretty sure it can be serviced and repaired. - Floormats, carpet, dash in great condition with no rips, tears, stains, etc. Mechanical: (8/10) - While the clutch does not slip, I suspect that it will need to be replaced in ~10k miles. I suggest installing a LS7 clutch kit (~$650 parts) if keeping the car at the current mod level. If you plan on adding a 150hp shot like I was, I suggest a Textralia OZ700 Z-grip (~$2k installed). - While replacing the OEM head unit 2 weeks ago, the car now issues a service code of B0026. Diagnosed as needing a new clock spring connector ($50 for GM part). - The passenger rear wheel bearing is making noise and needs to be replaced. I purchased an OEM wheel hub from GM that is in my garage for the repair, I just haven't installed it yet. - Everything else on the car is in completely fine working condition with no flaws. Notes: - I purchased the car in 2007 when it had ~20k miles. It was under an extended GM warranty up through about a year ago. It's has always been well maintained with synthetic fluids and has been driven by an enthusiast who is able to tell when something doesn't sound/feel/look/smell right. The car has seen the drag strip several times (2 to 3 per year) and has always been a very strong runner. - I had the headers and cam installed by Mike Norris Motorsports in Orlando when the car had ~55k miles on it. During the cam install, I opted to have the timing chain upgraded, oil pump replaced, underdrive pulley installed, new plug wires, new belts, and anything else preventative maintenance related that was easy to do at the time. - At the last dyno the car was at 406hp / 389tq to the wheels, which is around a 70-75 hp improvement over stock. I can send a copy of the dyno chart if wanted. - Before the mods were in place, I made a 12.12@114 pass in the 1/4, which made it to the cold air / drag radials fast list (search for Thomp in the list). I suspect the car would easily turn a 11.7@119 with traction and cold air. - The price on the car is well below anything else similar in hopes to move it quick, so the price is pretty firm. - For more photos, video: http://s152.photobucket.com/albums/s...PB/2003%20Z06/ |

Great ad Thomp.
Perfect description - "warts" and all - from someone who obvously knows his car and knows how to take care of it. GLWS. |
Very Nice! Love it and if it had Mod Red interior I would be all over it.
And you are asking a fair price for your Z on this forum, it doesn't happen a lot. This one won't last long!! |
Bump for a sweet ride in a nice area....went to school there still miss melbourne.....

Seriously interested! Could you please post or email me some pictures of the issues that you have described. I would like to see the severity of these issues.

If it helps, the exhaust is LG Street Longtubes with high flow cats into the stock Ti mufflers and tips. The cam gives has the slightest bit of lope. It's relatively mild at low speeds, but screams when requested. :yesnod: |
any trades?

Not unless you have a BMW M5 (or CTS-V) that you would be trading.

Also, would you mind sending a couple of pictures of the passenger side?

** Sale Pending **
I'll still update with the requested photos just in case, but things are lined up to have the car sold this Friday. As for the head unit question, I had an aftermarket head unit in there and the OEM re-install was what I was referencing. |
This could be the best ad I've seen all year. Kudos.
|
The car was sold today and I couldn't have asked for a smoother transaction. Thanks to the forum for the interest and kind words on the ad.
Cheers. - James |
