History on my corvette...
Anyone...
I want to find out the history of my corvette. From the factory in 1980 to this date. If its possible, where do I start ? Thanks S80 |
I called GM in Oshawa and gave them the vin , $40 later they sent me the info sheet all the options, not a bad little package, You can also go to the liscence bureau and ask for a buyers package , that will give you the past owners to a certain year, Your car is from the USA if I re-call, Ron

history / previous owners...
Besides the seller(4yrs ago), I have ownerships of the previous owner from California...
Curious to find out where she was built and shipped out and so on... Would be a nice document to my files. Who do I call in the US ? Phil |
You should be able to get a copy of the original invoice for your car from www.gmmediaarchive.com.
These contain the original delivering dealer, list of options and the cost of your car. GM has them for most Chevrolets from 1977 up, and they charge $50 for the service. For an additional $50 they will provide you with a Vintage Vehicle Information kit, that provides both specific info about your car (based on VIN and trim tag info you must provide), and generic info about your year vehicle. |

http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m...ke/StLouis.jpg The Corvette Building is behind the water tank at the upper left. ...and shipped out and so on... Go here http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/...x.php?cmd=area and see if you can obtain a copy of the original dealer invoice for your car. Your best source for original documentation for your car would be from previous owners. Good luck with the hunt. |
This is what you get for your $50. Mine was shipped to Central Chevrolet in Springfield, Ma which is still open. My trim tag was attached May 15th.

Karol's car came out of paint on May 15th (trim tag with date code was attached between the first and second color coats). The painted body was worked into the assembly line. The car would have needed day or day and a half to have been completed. Invoice date and tentative ship date are May 18. Tagged on Monday; finished and ready to go on Thursday. Good stuff. |
Great info , but on the Canadian side it's a little different , unless things changed I could not get info on cars that came to Canada. That's why I called GM in Oshawa, but I may try a few of these places again to see. Ron

 The delivery date is not shown on the GM Canada paperwork. |
NCRS is a good place to start finding out the dealership and other info. I think it is $40.00 maybe????

Right on Mike , I looked on the sheet and it does not say, but it went to Belisle Chev Olds LTD. in Rigaud Quebec. 458 came this color and 5020 same model no only. All options except trailer hitch, Gymkana suspension . I wonder if the build sheet would say, it's still on the tank and readable. Ron

So it's not worth taking the tank off, I should have done it last year ,I had the rear end out,IDIOT,
|
Ron - If it were mine, I would drop that tank and carefully remove the tank sticker and preserve it ... frame it and hang it on the wall. That's what I did with mine. They will just get dirty and possibly wet leaving it on the tank... and you know how people LOVE a car with the tank sticker.

Tank stickers can be faked as we all know. GM Oshawa paperwork can always be re-verified at any time. Ron has the best possible document already in his hands.
