LS3= 470 HP OR 10% more Per So-Cal/Hot Rod TV.

Second time I have seen this; So-Cal/Hot Rod TV put an LS3 (2009/10) crate engine with factory manifolds and supplied wiring on the dino and said that the motor is under rated and put out 10% more than the advertised OEM number of 430 HP.

If the above statement is true than it looks like GM under rated the LS7 too.

Our results found GM's numbers to be spot-on

10% is a lot, i.e. most likely beyond the margin of error. Perhaps someone else has done some dino testing? Could there be that much of a difference between engines?

One thing we all have seen is that no two identical cars seem to run the same all the time.

Example of performance difference (maybe HP?).

My "total stock" 2010 A6 GS coupe with a full tank of gas and a 250 lb. "Fat Man" driving put down a.......... Wait for it................. 12:31 @ 116 MPH. and the closest I have seen on this forum so far for the "stock" A6 (2011) GS is a 12:55 and I don't know if he had a full tank of gas or weigh 250 lbs. :D No manual trans times I have seen yet.

PS: Believe it or not, the coupe weighs the most in the GS models from my info.

We used to see claims of 450hp stock from the LS3........now it's up to 470hp, when will it end???

As mentioned by another, possibly there was a different cam or other unique specs on the LS3 crate engine. Or, what exhaust was it tested with, and with what accessories?

Our testing, using the SAE method, delivers numbers which can be compared to GM or any other manufacturer using SAE testing standards.

For our packages, we test the same, as well. That way, when we say it adds xxx hp, there are no smoke and mirrors, just plain results

Well, if it was the LS3 E-rod crate motor, then it does have a different cam in it and its rated at 480hp

What are the specs. if you know them and if you have both that would be even better.

Hard to believe that just adding a Hot Cam will give you 50hp.

Somebody here, RLSebring (?) put that engine or a similar one in his car, turned into a real can of worms.

E-Rod Crate Motor is rated at 430 HP, just look on GM website, Summit Racing, etc, the make a LS3 Crate Motor rated at 480HP, but not the E-Rod
