I Have an Extra PC Board On My MemCal
Hey Guys,
I have a PC Board sitting on top of two small ICs on my MemCal. It's on the oposite end from the EPROM. What is it? Is it some kind of non-volatile memory? Will my car run without it? (91 Vette, 727 ECM) It's in the way of putting a ZIF socket on the MemCal. Thanks a meg, guys. Jim |

on '90 and '91 they moved the ESC circuitry from down by the passenger side engine compartment to the memcal. That's what you're seeing.

Re: I Have an Extra PC Board On My MemCal (Marcho Polo)
Thanks MP.
I don't like it there. It's interferring with putting a ZIF socket where the PROM was. I think it's still doable but I'm going to have to file off part of the ZIF socket to get it to fit. Jim |

Looking at the AUJP MemCal for my 730, I think if you were to push it sideways carefully the feet would bend enough to allow the ZIF to fit...
(I plan on doing that myself) |
Re: I Have an Extra PC Board On My MemCal (Rich B.)
Thanks Rich,
I have skewed it over a little. It looks fairly fragile so I'm handling it gently. The ZIF socket has about 1/8 inch of excess material on the end that can be ground off. Then it will fit with no problem. I'd really like to have an extra MemCal for my Vette (91) before operating on the only one I've got. Anybody out there got a MemCal for a '727 ECM you'll part with for a reasonable price? |

Jeff Kopp can get you a new one for about $40

Paging Jeff Kopp
Paging Jeff Kopp I'm ready to purchase a new MemCal so I can experiment with the one I have now. |
