1967 Corvette VIN Numbers.
 

Hello,
I posted this in the wrong place last time & with a wrong title, so I will try again. I'm new to the forum & hopefully this will be correct.
I have a 1967 Corvette convertible and I would love to know if anyone could give me any information about it from the vin number. I have owned the car for quite a while & it has a 427, 4 speed in it. I have no idea if it is the correct engine and it's a weekend driver and not an all original car.
The vin number is: 194677S104759

The VIN will not tell you much, but:

You got a 1967 convertible
It is the 4759th Corvette buildt for 67
Your car left the assembly line nov.28 1966

Thats it

Post what you see on the trim tag and you will get some more information, but not if it was a 427 originally.

Yeah....you're screwed.

You'll have to do some detective work on the "clues" to the car's history and configuration and numbers on components to dope out what's original and what's not. There's lots of help here to figure those things out. :thumbs:

Look for the last few digits to be stamped on your engine pad.

Since the trim tag is gone the chances of this is probably slim to none........... HOWEVER you could get EXTREMELY lucky.............and find that the built sheet is still on the gas tank.

If you want to check this you can do it by removing the fuel door and use a mirror to see the top of the tank. An hour's job at tops. If you do see it is there then post again for instructions on how to retrieve it.

Scratch that, I just saw it was posted on the original thread.

OK, here is a little more info. The numbers on the block are 3904351, and the heads are GM aluminum, but I haven't had time to pull the valve covers off to get the number off of them. The block has obviously been decked, because there is nothing visible to read on the front pad. The front sway bar is 7/8" and I guess I will check on top of the gas tank this weekend to look for a build sheet, but I doubt I will find one. Anyway, I just thought I would add a few more details.......Thanks for the help.........Mike

Agree, hard block to find.

blocks easy to find if you have the $$$$$$$$, look at fuel line where it connects to rubber hose which goes to fuel pump, look at angle, this gives a clue if big or small block. look at tach redline, oil pressure gauge should go to 80psi, rear end should have caps not u-shaped strap on the rear end to half shafts, rear end code will tell if big or small block. of course, many of these things could have been changed but this will give you a general ideal what car probably came with.. other option is try to retrace owner history and talk to owners....good luck.

Also look at the throttle linkage. they were different for big block.

I have what I believe to be a 1967 327 Corvette engine. Where can I find the block numbers specifically?
Im a little dumb I guess and dont know where to look.
