a/c & smog delete............ford tempo belt

On my 1984 Corvette I just deleted my a/c and my air pump using a 92' Ford Tempo belt. The belt is 70.5 inches long and fits many cars.

other cars include, (but not limited 2)

1992 MERCURY TOPAZ
2000-2005 CHEVY IMPALA
1997 PONTIAC TRANS SPORT
1992 FORD TEMPO

You can use your factory (smooth) idler pulley or your can use one from the 1992 Corvette (groved)

belt part number PBH 6K703

OP:
Dreading up your old thread and would like to ask how has this configuration work out long term?

I did the same mod as you but have been told I may need to use care because;
"However, your tensioner should be between the last "loaded" pulley, and the drive pulley, which in your case, it's not. You've got the tensioner ahead" of the water pump."

Or would enjoy hearing from anyone with this configuration

I'm pulling up this old thread looking for long term USE on just deleting SMOG PUMP and using shorter belt--anyone running as I described with input-Good or BAD, even a belt # would be great..

覧覧覧覧覧覧覧

Removed smog pump & AC compressor as shown about a year ago

Used a 70.5" Dayco Belt from AutoZone, part number 5060705 aka 6PK1790Belt is from a 2003 Chevy Impala.

was in stock at Autozone

Working fine

Heres where I got the idea

belt is 70.5 inches long and fits many cars.
