Photos of my removed transmission pan and opened filter what you think?

Just took this out and took a few photos. Car has 119k miles and I have no idea when the last change was done if any.

What do the photos tell you?

Black gunk is normal for age/mileage, clutch material. Never anything you want to see but is normal wear and tear. Once most of it is in the pan and not on the clutches, slips...

Looks normal to me, nothing metallic or big chunks.

This is what I used...a pick, it's also a bi#$h to get the new one in, it needs to go up to the lip about 2'' in so i used a handle of a screwdriver the same size of the seal and tapped it up.

:iagree:
Just clutch sediment. Looks normal. Brass grains, burnt fluid would be a concern. Just change out and record mileage in your maintenance log-you are keeping one, right?

What did the old fluid look/smell like? If it was pretty black and smelled burnt or sour you may not be happy with the result when you put new fluid in and drive away.
