The mph killer on the C6's is the 4th-5th drop in gear ratios.. It's equivelant to shifting from 4th to 6th in a P car.. The Zr1 trans is where it's at.. I'm hoping to make the may event with a goal of 215mph..

I though the hot ticket would be Z06 1st through 4th gears with a ZR1 5th and 6th.

Good luck to everyone getting ready for the mile. We're looking forward to getting out there. We pulled our car out this weekend and did some maintenance. It made it to the dyno for some shake down runs, and we will be putting the real boost to it later this week.

Cheers!

I was going to ask how safe those 345 MT tires are at very high speeds but I guess since you are taking that beast to the mile.. that answers it! Mind if I ask what tire pressure you plan to run to stay safe?

They ran real late on Sunday and barly got on it, It ran above 210 without trying. It should set the Corvette record without any problems this time around. Hopefully it will make some good passes. I am looking forward to seeing it run.

[QUOTE=427silverhotrod;1577052665]What kind of power you makingto hit 194mph?

We talked to the engineers at M/T, and they pretty much said they wouldn't do it. However, we decided to run them due to the short period of time at high speeds. Looks like we will be the guinea pigs. :willy: Can't say on the tire pressures as two passes is not exactly a tried and true foundation. For what it is worth, keep the pressures higher for high speed stability.

Like the guys said above, we just barely made to Goliad just in time to make a pass. We ran 210mph shutting down early. The driver was unclear where the finish line was. The next pass was the same boost level held through the traps for 214mph. Unfortunately, we did not have time to make more passes and increase the power.

We're looking forward to the race and seeing all of these great cars. This trip should be more fun than our last marathon trip. Stop by and check in with us when you can.

Good luck Hinson, and all the other Corvette drivers.

345/35-18 M/T's are skechy at the top of 4th (Z51), let alone the top of 6th!
Going to need an upgrade to the set of brass balls your running.

While these statements are true, I think the biggest difference is Lambo's, GT's, and Supra's are able to keep a working transmission in the car. T56's & 6060's can't handle the abuse.

So with my 670 to the wheels I should hit mabe 197mph? If I'm lucky and get some wind 200mph? I'm not holding my breath.

Hinson, Pic's shows car on dyno what power are you puting down?

Initial low boost pulls were low 1,300's. We're far from done. We'll be making more pulls in the next 24 hours as time allows. Big boost coming soon. :flag:

Torque numbers? That is what makes a difference at the mile.

I really doubt it. I don't know of any Corvette that's broken 200 without making at least 800RWHP... Has anyone done it?

427silverhotrod 03-15-2011 10:39 PM

Maybe just turn the boost up and see if the stock piston/rods can make one pass. Boom Boom.
or just watch this car.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9P-jgKBSdcc

I want to try with just over 700hp and zr1 gears on the stock bottom end.

I'll be there Friday to watch my buddy run but my car isn't finished yet. I'll be there in October for sure, maybe May. Can't wait to see what my 434 LSX and F2 can do.
